Found this in my bookmark, it is from 2010 so maybe things have improved but I haven't watched any good anime in years so I doubt it @Ai chan @AliceShiki https://kotaku.com/japan-its-not-funny-anymore-5484581
What isn't funny? And more importantly just because you(who ever doesn't find it funny) doesn't find it funny doesn't mean others can't or wont.
Meanwhile I can't wait to visit it as soon as I get the chance xd but I admit what I like the most is the anime and manga "verse"
"Maybe this is true. I have spent a large part of my life circling the globe, immersing myself in languages, and tolerating the hell out of some world cultures. " So this person spends a lot of time living around the world and pretty much hates them all over time for not conforming to his ideals? I have a feeling I know what type of person this is.....some of their reasons might be valid, but overblown altogether. "I tend to avoid white bread on principle, eating only whole wheat bread." LOL Yeah, this is exactly what I was picturing.
I skimmed it, seems like a classic case of moving into a new space and finding it cool at first then realizing that no, the neighbours or coworkers are annoying after the glow fades. Or even moving in with someone and finding that no matter how much you thought you loved them, they are getting more and more irritating. But they hadn't changed, just your tolerance for their bullshit had. Nothing wrong with any of that, but some people move to out of their own country because their home is like that. If you have moved to somewhere and fallen out of love then maybe it is time to move on. Why be miserable?
Haha you remind me of girls taking Korean courses and flocking to Korea to get boyfriends because they are Kpop fans
Haha the funniest part is that he is addressing me like I wrote the article haha. It reminds me of Kpop fangirls who think Korea is the garden of Eden, with perfect Gentlemen. March 2019 paints a very different picture with all the "retirements"
This guy is just bitching out. This place sucks because it doesn't bend to his will, well, suck it up! I live my life in several places too.. guess what? I don't bitching. Even though I don't move from country to country, but every place, city, town, etc has their own sets of tradition or even unspoken rules. So, suck it up! Take it or leave it!
Are we a joke to you? Anyway, why is "Everything in Japan has meat in it" a problem? Is this guy a vegan? Does he has a lifelong mission to purge meat from people? Ai-chan dislike the 'mandatory parties' too, but this article reeks of vegan preaching. Over and over he implied how people shouldn't eat meat and he hates them for it. Or how cows have better purpose than to be slaughtered for food.
OP of the article has obviously never been to China if he's complaining about smoking in Japan. There are smokers on almost every street corner, whereas it's somewhat rare for there to be smokers to be out and about on the streets of Japan. He's also horribly wrong about samurai committing suicide because of being disgraced in battle; that was only somewhat true in the Edo period due to a shift in culture and romanticizing of the Warring States period, but most of the time it wasn't even because of that. The ritual originally came about in order for high ranking samurai or commanders to prevent enemy from capturing their heads to gain rewards/military merits by having their second (the assistant in seppuku) safely escape with their head. Surprisingly, Japan doesn't have more vegetarian options considering the fact that Buddhism used to be highly prevalent throughout Japan, and most of the country was vegetarian. Although there certainly are Zen and Buddhist meals around. That sure was a long article though...
I think we should make a correction. We don't have One Piece Z, One Piece Kai etc so there is no difference. When people mention Dragon Ball Z The original Dragon Ball story is what I assume they are referring to And I hate to break it to you but even the author of One Piece will tell you that Dragon Ball is better than One Piece
What was that article about? I read halfway into it and i only read that he's grumbling about the culture and that he hates his workplace
Well just look at the headings in bold He pointed out what he loved about Japan and then pointed out in more detail how he hated public smoking, meat in everything, perverted lolicon anime
