NUF only provides link to 3rd party novel, so it should be okay. Furthermore they are hunting for manga websites, not novel.

Why would they go after NU? As far as I know NU is just an index site that links to translations and doesn't post them.
And NUF are the forums not the main site. Idk why it bothers me so much.

It's late so maybe I'm missing something here but what they're doing is blocking japanese citizens from accessing the pirate sites. If they did the same thing to NUF or other sites it would still only prevent japanese citizens from accessing it. Even then there's ways around those restrictions for anyone even a little tech savvy.

NU itself may be fine, but a lot of the links on it may not

They have to start somewhere, or did you expect them to censor manga, novels, and anime in every country at the same time?

You don't think there's any reason to suspect that the same people would be looking to do the same for other media besides manga? And that there's any chance that other countries would copy japan if it's deemed successful?

Well for those speaking japanese piracy sites does kill a lot of possible profit.

But if there's no manga translation in sight, then it's questionable whether they could legitimately claim the same for manga that's translated.

I can understand their point, because imagine if someone scans and hosts every single comic in the USA online ? Sales might not drop, but they would not rise in a quicker manner, I can assure you.

Still, this thing would only work easily on sites hosted in or by japanese companies, meaning they would have to convince someone abroad to get it to the same 'level' there, and those people can just contact other hosting networks until someone doesn't give in or find someone's national laws that don't mind it.

The Japanese government cannot block media in other countries, unless the sites are being hosted in Japan. It's literally impossible. It also won't be very successful.

NU isn’t a piracy site. It’s a directory and forum. The fan translations are protected under some law that escapes my mind right now

You're being pedantic and ignoring the point. It should be obvious that I said it hypothetically, ok let me rephrase it...

If they COULD, then WOULD they? Be reasonable. Also to everyone saying "anyone that's a bit tech savy it's easy to get around" well for most people it's not easy and they aren't tech savy, and it's definitely a barrier to entry.
