I found this novel through qidian and later found out there were some translation already done for it. So I read both, and in comparison they both have good and bad qualities. With that being said I feel that qidian should be close to perfect since they are the official translation. However, in reality their language is not close to perfect and recently a joke was lost in translation while the unofficial translation did explain it (ie 2 in Beijing is a slang for stupid was not explained in qidian version). I'm unsure how to feel as this novel feels like there is potential but the current translation is not doing it justice while I'm also glad that it is being translated. So yah...
What i still don't understand is why the QI translator doesn't use notes. I mean that's something basic for CN, even more for a relatively harder novel such as Nightfall. In other aspects i'm relatively satisfied , compare to Path toward Heaven (another novel by the same author) , this translation is pretty good haha, i can at least see that they got an editor.
