Does anyone know why the Princess (her ex body's sister) asked to marry her ex husband? He would've been her brother-in-law and her sister did just die. What's her real motive for wanting to marry him? Is she a nice person or actually one of those schemers?

Swear I'm going to MTL this novel and shower this thread with spoilers. I'm catching up on Qidian translations before I move over. From spoilers given and what I've read so far, we can conclude that: -MC is Princess Jiuling, who died and transmigrated into the body of Jun Zhenzhen. -Lu Yun Qi (head of Jinyiwei) seemed to have loved Princess Jiuling and had a reputation for smacking down anyone with any bad intent towards her. But he also seems to be related to her death in some way...... -Princess Jiuling learned medicine from the famous Divine Doctor (her master) to attempt to cure her father. -Ning Yunzhao is falling in love with Jun Jiuling despite himself -the true solver of the Go game during the Lantern Festival is definitely that runaway young master, Zhu Zan (son of Duke of Chengguo). Jiuling doesn't know it's him yet. There's also something about a 'map to the capital' that Jiuling picks up that he apparently made, which she does know he made. In a flashback, we see that her dad (the Prince) was friendly with the Duke of Chengguo and that's how she first heard of this 'Zhu Zan,' though she never met him. -Fang family people's attitudes improve towards her when they realize she isn't the uppity good-for-nothing she was before. They were harsh because of having to do a 'man's' job of running the bank though they're all women in this male-dominated society. Jinxiu becomes a really cute tsundere later, she's actually a good supporter of Jiuling surprisingly.
Spoilers! Going to update more as I read: -Jiuling stages a husband-wife fight centering around husband sleeping around behind her back. This episode makes it impossible to keep Chengyu's recovery on the down-low, but she makes it transition into weeding out the secret killer. -Chengyu slept with the girl (Lingzhi) also as a way to figure out what Jiuling, the Old Madam, and his mother were doing. It ruined the plan of keeping his recovery on the down-low, but now he knows there's something fishy about his 'illness' and that they're doing something about it. -secret killer is store manager Song. He's way too coincidentally on time and even gets a doctor to check up on Chengyu. This is bad for the Fang team because the doctor will be able to tell that Chengyu has actually recovered. -Chengyu fakes being deathly ill with the grey pallor and all. Even the doctor thinks he's going to cork it because Jiuling worked her medical mojo. The doctor's diagnosis is that Chengyu's meridians are bad and the 'fault' is all the tonics that Jiuling has been stuffing down his throat. Of course, the following weeping and wailing is all staged because they still have to make it look like Chengyu is going to die soon. He can't be officially 'better' until they get rid of the killer. -Manager Song is a wily thing and they have to keep faking it until he's lured out completely. -Jinxiu is so adorably tsundere, I kind of want to hug her. At one point when the Fang girls find out about this affair with Lingzhi, she's one of the first to disapprove on principle (in Jiuling's defense). She also believes (along with Yunxiu? I forget how to spell her name, it's the quiet sister) that Jiuling wouldn't do something as stupid as harming Chengyu, which means there's something else going on. -Chengyu is still antagonizing Jiuling (through the affair with Lingzhi), Old Madam is worried. There's also news that Lingzhi is pregnant -- Jiuling tells Liu'er that she hopes 'she' won't be too greedy. -Old Madam confronts the doctor and Lingzhi, saying that it's too early to know for sure. She's seen tricks like faked pregnancy pulses before. Lingzhi is nervous.... hm...... To be continued~
Spoilers continued~ -Everyone is nervous because the kid means continued Fang family line and that isn't what Manager Song wants. He doesn't even care whether Chengyu lives or dies at this point (since he'll die anyway), since the issue of a successor throws a wrench in his plans. -Chengyu plans to go away from home, which throws a bunch of people into a tizzy. (since everyone is worried about Chengyu dying on the way) -Old Madam agrees to let Chengyu go, which makes a lot of people hesitant. Jiuling agrees with Old Madam's decision, stating that it would be more dangerous for him to be home at this point. Their decision makes a lot of people think that Old Madam and his mother are giving up on Chengyu. The sisters can only trust that the Old Madam is not merciless and is doing this for a purpose (since they're not in the know). -...Lingzhi seems to be in on the killing Chengyu too... she hopes he dies so the fake pregnancy isn't found out...... -Jiuling is going along with Chengyu on the trip. She's also bringing along the 'trustworthy' guy Lei Zhonglian... he used to be Fang dad's bodyguard. -turns out this Lei used to be a famous bodyguard. He got injured in the same fight that caused Fang dad to die and could no longer be a bodyguard. He's sad about becoming a waste and losing his buddies in that fight. -Jinxiu sneaks around and refuses to let her brother get bullied. LOL this girl. She's eavesdropping on people she thinks are suspicious like Lingzhi and goes to find Jiuling who always knows something. She scares herself when she runs into Liu'er and barges into Jiuling's room. Jiuling isn't there. -then there's a strange male voice and the girls are afraid. Liu'er regains courage and lights the room (he was trying to break into Jiuling's place), then confronts him and screams 'thief,' throwing the entire estate into chaos. This chases the guy away. -Jinxiu is frustrated while waiting with Liu'er for Jiuling to return, because Liu'er doesn't know anything. She doesn't ask and just does as Jiuling says. -Jiuling goes to 'Runan' where she says her family is. She's bringing along Chengyu and Lei Zhonglian. Lei Zhonglian gets the idea (after seeing Chengyu) that maybe the Old Madam and co. haven't given up on Chengyu but are actually biding their time for something. -Manager Song seems put out that Chengyu isn't at home. (HAH) @missycin: I think so? I haven't got that far yet, but he seems to be in it for the Fang family's bank business. Also, I skimmed a bit more of the ending through MTL. -Ning Yunzhao still seems to have some kind of feelings for Jiuling but gives them up. They part amicably. -Jinxiu is still around being fiery and kicking butt. -Zhu Zhan killed the emperor... Now he's on the run in the north. -Jiuling leaves to go to Zhu Zhan. Zhu Zhan and his men are living it rough up north, but Zhu Zhan is still thinking of Jiuling though they're parted and he knows it's unlikely for her to come to him. He even picks a snow lotus flower for her lol. -Just when Zhu Zhan and his men think they're in for another fight, it turns out it's Jiuling. This is when she asks how Zhu Zhan became so ugly (LOL), and goes for a hug. It's a really sweet moment because his mouth's running off indignantly but he's still hugging her. -Last part of ending is about some people I have no idea about burning incense at a grave.
More spoilers~ -Old Madam and the mom spin some crazy sob story (something about superstition and separating Chengyu and the unborn son so both will live and the family curse will be broken) that Manager Song believes because it seems like typical women's foolishness. -behind his back, Old Madam is thinking that he's the real fool and that he's not their opponent. (yay lady powah~) -Jinxiu is spokesperson for her and her sisters in supporting Old Madam and the mom. Their unconditional support makes Old Madam teary. -meanwhile, Manager Song is having a tantrum over Chengyu going who-knows-where out of his reach. -Jiuling and co. still on their roadtrip. Turns out Runan is related to her own life (as Princess Jiuling) rather than Zhenzhen, but no one knows any better. -Lei Zhonglian is impressed by Jiuling's breadth of knowledge, especially after hearing that she toughed it out a month by herself alone. -away from the scheming, Jiuling and Chengyu's relationship is better. Seems like Chengyu has been putting on a front for the attacker too. -more roadtrip and Jiuling getting herbs for Chengyu. Jiuling goes into the mountain and finds this purple-something herb that's a priceless treasure for saving lives. Her master died picking one and fell from a cliff because of it. She goes up and picks it too, sort of as a memorial for her master. A quirk of this plant is that it grows on cliffsides, always where the rocks are loose. As expected, she's close to falling and a guy who comes out of nowhere. Unexpectedly, he's more interested in the plant than screaming about her impending death or doing anything about it. (LOL) -he does pull her up (easily too) when she asks though. (betcha this is Zhu Zhan) -they get into a fight over the flower. It's sort of funny in a way despite the serious bloodlust and argument going on, because they get very elaborate in their arguing over just why each respective person 'owns' the flower. -in the end, the guy doesn't hurt Jiuling. He just tweaks Jiuling's nose and leaves. Jiuling didn't have to use her safety measure -- she's got a ring with a hidden poison spike on it. Her ankle's injured though and she'll have difficulty going back. -Mr. 'I am a woodcutter' returns! He'll take her down if he gets paid (LOL). He takes her down and they argue/talk some more. She makes him chew on some kind of branch for healing and he retorts that he won't be able to pay her (pffft). -she realizes he's something of a chatterbox, but she feels unusually comfortable with him and just rests. -Chengyu and co. are worried about her disappearance until they see her carried back by a strange man. Then they're even more worried until she explains. They look at this buff, handsome guy chewing a twig with a rope, axe and hare on him until he demands his money again. XD -Chengyu calls him an 'uncle' and the guy retorts that no way he's an uncle. He's a handsome young stud and not at all similar to this guy (Lei Zhonglian). LOL at wondering if mountain people like him have a problem with their brains. -Jiuling's arms go everywhere (losing grip probably), but the guy just sighs and tells her to stop taking him cheaply and add more money (if she's going to 'grope' him). -some unwise statements on Chengyu's part leads the guy to reveal his real aura, which is uncommon and definitely not that of a simple woodcutter. It's tense until Jiuling breaks it up and tells them to give the money to him. The guy throws back the extra money and leaves, telling them he's not a bandit. Jiuling tries to get the flower one more time but he refuses. She feels just like she did at the Lantern Festival. TBC~
Reporting back~ -Jiuling's view on this 'woodcutter': he's not a gentleman, but he's not a villain either. I don't like him (because he took my stuff). LOL -Lei Zhonglian reveals some more of what happened with Fang dad back then: the attackers were trained soldiers and not bandits, though the bandits admitted to the deed. No one believed him though. -but Chengyu believes him! He read the reports and though it seems 'impossible,' there's also no other way his dad would be killed if not by some other shadowy force. Lei Zhonglian's flame of loyalty is ignited! :3 -on the other side, Manager Song is having a tantrum again. His people still can't find Chengyu and co. -Lingzhi's false pregnancy isn't going well under house arrest. She's actually gotten thinner despite her efforts and has to keep eating pregnancy food despite heartily getting sick of it. -Lingzhi tries to fake a miscarriage with some blood-inducing powder and frame it on Liu'er. But she ends up bleeding anyway without the powder after trying to get it. -household in controlled chaos again. Old Madam and co. are totally in on this. Lingzhi still tries to frame it on Liu'er. Jinxiu sticks up for Liu'er though! -real suspect is Concubine Su. She was the hidden poisoner in the household. -Mom is super angry at this betrayal and crazy with grief -Old Madam is totally in the know. Turns out they knew Lingzhie wasn't pregnant from the start and were just waiting to spring this trap. -Concubine Su commits suicide via poison in a tooth before they can stop her or get more info from her. House of cards falling down around Manager Song, huehuehue~ -poor Jinxiu though, she's Concubine Su's daughter and was traumatized. -Manager Song is angry and arrogant, he goes straight to the estate though he knows its probably a trap. He attacks them with soldiers, archers, and fire. Mom Fang confronts him. -Manager Song did it all for the money. He wanted to have it all. What an ungrateful little bastard. -Old Madam comes out! Counterattack begins! She got manpower and the personal appearance of the Yangcheng County Magistrate, Li Changhong. Mr. Magistrate is a bit fearful of these women who are so hell-bent on catching this guy they're willing to die. -Old Madam and mom come out okay despite minor injuries. Manager Song is arrested and charged guilty. More investigation. Concubine Su is distantly related to Manager Song and was implanted in by him for the sole purpose of ending Fang family. Jinxiu wasn't in their calculations and is completely innocent. -waiting for Chengyu to come back and settle things, esp. with Lingzhi's false pregnancy and all -Jiuling and co. arrive at Runan. Stupid fraud person takes her house and sells it without consent. Jiuling is very sad when she thinks of things she tried very hard to get but were always cheated out of, in her past life and this one. She plots with Chengyu to revive the name of her family (Zhenzhen's) medicinal hall (Nine Court-something). -minor scene seems to suggest that Chengyu has some feelings for Jiuling but knows she feels nothing for him -it's Jiuling vs. Hu Gui (fraudster) and Yan family master (local landlord?) -turns hilarious later. Yan family master was beaten up by his parents and made to make amends because Jiuling cured them. LOL -at Fang estate, Jinxiu is moping and just doesn't understand (why her mother did all those things, etc.). Liu'er tries to cheer her up. -Jiuling is depressed because this is around the time of year as her birthday and marriage as Princess. It's also the set date for her sister Jiuli's marriage to Yunqi. Jiuling is sad over her sister and both wishes her sister knew about the hidden conspiracies and that she didn't. Sometimes innocence is bliss. -they come across a guy making money through Go while going to the restaurant. He also mentions Yangcheng and that makes Jiuling annoyed (because of that failed Go game). She goes up to him and they recognize each other and say, 'It's you.' (lololol Zhu Zan) -Jiuling recognizes him as the solver of her Go game. Zhu Zan (just going to call him that now, it's pretty undeniable) recognizes her as the girl he met at the side of the road/mountains. -when Jiuling tries to get his name, he tries to run away but Jiuling clings onto him, leading him to yell 'Indecent!.' -he tries to push her away but she keeps clinging to him. She's so upset over losing, ahahaha~ -now with Chengyu's pushing, everyone's restraining Zhu Zan. -gets funnier and funnier. Jiuling grabs his belt and drags him over for a Go game that he tries to lie and say he doesn't know how to play. But she's not letting him go lol, then it practically turns into Jiuling assaulting him until the restaurant clears out to leave only Jiuling, Zhu Zan, Chengyu, and Lei Zhonglian -I won't get into their following argument because it's both cute and funny and hard to summarize here, but Zhu Zan explains how he solved the Go game. It's actually an in-joke -- the solution is to place a piece so that the character for 'pig' is spelled out. -Jiuling cries like a kid because of this silly answer and because of all her feels from her master and all. Zhu Zan is frantic. Turns out he knew her master too. -this makes her cry again. She just wants to cry. It turns out she never cried since childhood no matter how sad and her loss at the Lantern Festival was the first time she wanted to really cry. And now it's him, the same person again. -Jiuling grabs Zhu Zan again and makes him tell her about her master. He can't say much. When pressed for his name again, he uses the pseudonym 'Jiu' (nine), which is coincidentally the same as the 'Jiu' in Jiuling and a number she has deep affinity for. She questions him and makes him want to tear out his hair lol. -as they prepare to part, she ends up speaking the name on her lips: 'Zhu Zan.' This totally alarms him and he ends up with his hand against her throat because NO ONE SHOULD KNOW. (HAH I'M RIGHT, HE'S TOTALLY ZHU ZAN) -Jiuling surprised herself with this almost-instinctive ID she made. But she isn't afraid even with the chokehold and this makes Zhu Zan suspicious and curious about who she is. -she makes up a reason (I think) of how she knows him, something about seeing him before? In Funing County or something, but he takes it and peace is restored. -this incident scares Chengyu into dropping his crutches and actually walking over to hug Jiuling. Poor kid and his secretly unrequited feelings...... He's still going to fake being lame for a while though for going home. -Zhu Zan smiles at Jiuling as they leave on the carriage, then pushes out Hu Gui (the toady) and hitches a ride. LOOOOOL -they talk some more and stop at her medicine hall. 'Jiuling' is up there and he learns it's also her name. He figures something out...... -Zhu Zan also gatecrashes their mealtime and helps himself. This guy makes me laugh so hard, he's so bold. When Jiuling says she didn't lie when she said she was a doctor/pharmacist, he replies that he also didn't lie when he said he was a woodcutter. XD -LOL, we get a glimpse of the poor people cough what Jinyiwei trying to track down Zhu Zan. They're looking for a woodcutter but the range is so broad...... Plus, 'woodcutter' is also a slang term for people who hunt bandits and the like. -Zhu Zan continues pestering hanging around Jiuling. She elbows him in the stomach when he goes overboard though. XD -eventually they're told news that it's okay to go back to the Fang family. Zhu Zan introduces himself as Jiuling's savior and hires himself to escort them back, saying he's 'worth a lot of money.' -Zhu Zan saves them from getting attacked by taking a detour because of his 'intuition.' But their purpose is to act as 'bait,' so they head into an ambush in the end. -Lei Zhonglian recognizes the attackers as the same ones from when Fang dad was killed. He's willing to get temporary use of his ruined right hand to fight against them, even if that hand will be truly ruined once he's done. Jiuling does her acupuncture. Meanwhile, Zhu Zan is leading the guards and shooting arrows into the enemies while scolding enemies and allies alike. XD He also makes their hearts waver by intimidating + making them question their decision to attack them by offering money. -then a lot of blah-blah fighting and back and forth misdirection. Of course, Jiuling's side is fine. Zhu Zan gets in a huff for some reason (I couldn't figure this part out through MTL, I think it's because Jinyiwei'll be lured over by all the soldiers moving around) and leaves, but not before Jiuling smiles at him and asks him if he knows her name. It's funny how he says the same thing to her that she said to Ning Yunzhao -- 'don't think too much,' but she's wondering about something different; why he's running away all the time TBC~
Spoilers continued~ -oh wow, turns out the mastermind behind the Fang family curse is actually that magistrate Li Changhong. He was using Manager Song and that's why there were actual soldiers moved around. He gets arrested and thrown in the same jail cell as Manager Song. -Chengyu kills magistrate in the jail cell. O.O He's quite gutsy. Btw, he's all better now and can walk by himself. -everyone in Fang family is happy that Chengyu is okay. Jinxiu bursts into tears and is happy that Chengyu doesn't blame her because of her mother. -Jiuling is going by her 'new' name 'Jiuling' rather than 'Zhenzhen' under the pretext that it's the name her grandfather left for her. -Old Madam and Fang mom want Chengyu to marry Jiuling for reals (but we know this isn't going to happen). -poor Jinxiu thought everyone hated her, but it turns out they were just awkward. Her sister gives her a pep talk and tell her that she can do whatever she wants, whether it's staying with them or going out into the world. -Manager Song dies miserably. Magistrate Li is said to have committed suicide and all blame is pinned on him instead. He is publically executed. Also, the executioner purposefully missed the first time so only like half his head got lopped off. Then it was another half-cut on the other side. Only then is his head finally cut off. People are scared now because they realize the executioner was bought by money (cough, revenge of Fang family). -Jinxiu is wrapped up in a corner watching the execution. She meets Chen Qi again (guy who got her into the gambling hall). She starts crying (the women in Fang family are present and all are, revenge finally served). She thinks she has no right to go up front because she's the daughter of Concubine Su. They have a nice talk, it's kind of cute though Jinxiu accidentally knocks over the sugar figurines he was selling because of her temper and apologizes. -Jiuling knows she has to go (because of how she feels) and lets her leave. Jinxiu is chased by Chen Qi. -Jinxiu gets her own screentime because soon Liu'er goes around looking for Jiuling. Not even Fang family knows where she went. The search goes on~ -as it turns out, there's someone behind Li Changhong and that's why Chengyu killed him. It was a trade -- quick mercy kill in exchange for info. -holy cow, the hidden secret of the Fang family is that they actually have an Imperial Edict. Old Madame hid it in her crutch/walking stick. They're using it to overturn Yangcheng searching for Jiuling. -just when things start getting crazy, Jiuling shows up. It turns out... she went out of town to pick herbs...... No one outside the Fang family knew she was a doctor until this incident -- it actually makes sense that she went out to pick herbs if she's a doctor. -Jiuling was last seen talking with some man, so that's another reason why they all freaked. She explains that it was a 'woodcutter' (lol codename for Zhu Zan) who has a rare flower needed for last step in Chengyu's recovery. Sadly, message she meant to send to them to tell them got lost. (pfft, even her made-up story includes him) -actual reason is because she was following a lead -- an imperial eunuch she knew as a child -poor Old Madame is embarrassed that she pulled out this hammer of an edict just for the small problem of finding Jiuling. Jiuling hugs poor embarrassed grandma. Awwww~ -Chengyu has a conversation with her. He knows she wants to go to the Capital but asks if she'll be back. Jiuling didn't think Fang family would be so sincere towards her, but they are so her plans have changed. She's keeping the connection. (but poor Chengyu's still out of luck since he's not ML) -some flashes to Guo Gongong (?), guy who used to be Jiuling's husband (Lu Yunqi), and Ning Yunzhuo. -back to Fang family. Old Madame reveals to poor Chengyu that the marriage was fake all along. Fang mom is against it because she knows her son will be sad. But Old Madam wants to be just for Jiuling. But there's still the 'stain' of a false marriage according to Chengyu. -Chengyu solves this by spreading a ton of rumors using the power of money, boosting Jiuling's reputation as a good person and a godly doctor, drawing on their Runan adventure alongside rumors that it was a false marriage. Plus, Jiuling being away makes this make sense. -Lingzhi is still locked up. Chengyu deals with her. -Jiuling is at the capital with Liu'er. She's also looking at the map Zhu Zan made -- he got a lot of money out of that small piece of business lol. -Ning Yunzhuo is at the capital and swimming in politics -Jiuling is still touring around with Zhu Zan's map and thinking about him. She's also eating at some 'food spots' he put on his map. XDDD More later~
Continued~ -Jiuling is wandering and seeing the nightlife of the Capital while reminiscing. Then she hears Zhu Zan's voice. -what does she do? Follow him of course! She's wondering why he's come to the Capital of all places when he's running away from the Emperor and the Jinyiwei -- going AWAY from the Palace is what most would do -she follows him all the way to a place near Lu Yunqi's home, then she loses interest. But she's still tailing him... LOL -he's gone to a cemetery -- to be precise, to her (Princess Jiuling's) tomb. She thinks he's maybe going to desecrate her tomb, but it turns out he was just laying flowers at her grave. So all that effort traipsing about was for this. She gets teary. -Zhu Zan knows someone's following, but he's surprised when he sees her. -Jiuling is doubly surprised when on closer look, one of the flowers is the medical flower that he stole from her. XDDD -they get into an argument, Zhu Zan gives himself up to the Jinyiwei -because Lu Yunqi is head of Jinyiwei, he also shows up. LOL Zhu Zan, he grabs onto a eunuch's sleeve and screams that Lu Yunqi is going to kill him. Poor eunuch (Du Gonggong) has a headache over this guy acting just like he did as a kid, screaming he was going to be killed by a fake prince. -most people avoid eunuchs, but Zhu Zan's straightforward behavior makes even this poor eunuch feel warm towards him. He chatters a lot as they go to see the Emperor. -Jiuling is at a loss, but Ning Yunzhao finds her (through the grapevine, he learned it was a fake marriage). Poor Yunzhao's unrequited love. He's still sticking to her. Even his friends got a clue. -LOL at Zhu Zan making the Emperor mad enough to yell and smash things. He keeps going on about how the Jinyiwei is scary and that's why he ran away. -people are trying to take Zhu Zan to task for his map, since maps might make it easier for invaders or hostile forces. But he defends it by saying there's nothing on there except for foodie spots. His tongue is so deadly lol, so many people made speechless. Then he turns it into a heroic speech about turning away invaders through sheer might even if they do come and the soldiers start cheering. XD -Lu Yunqi wants to know who's the head of the 'woodcutters,' but Zhu Zan says he doesn't know but it must be a wise and open-minded guy. (I bet you Zhu Zan's the leader) -OMG, Zhu Zan vs. Lu Yunqi. Lu Yunqi says Zhu Zan can be arrogant because he has a dad. Zhu Zan retorts that Lu Yunqi doesn't have a dad, that's why he has no human relations, no human nature, and is just like a beast. Of course he's arrogant. -this is super insulting because Lu Yunqi has a dad but he died heroically and was in a coffin since he could remember. Fight doesn't get physical though, because Lu Yunqi walks away. -news spreads out. Lu Yunqi is actually quite beastly in a sense, he's so cold and ruthless he's drowned a kid in a pond for his job. -Jiuling is at a teahouse and remarking that Zhu Zan sure knows how to cause trouble. She hears from passing people too about the arranged marriage with Jiuli and that surprisingly, Lu Yunqi has a bunch of lovers. He wasn't like that when Jiuling knew him. -Jiuling... it's not a coincidence that Ning Yunzhao keeps showing up, okay...? -Jiuling opens up a medicine/doctor's shop in the Capital. There's a scene switch to Jinxiu, who is selling sugar figurines with Chen Qi. Fang family is still supporting Jiuling and they look forward to her letters. -Pffft, Zhu Zan still tries to run away from Jiuling but she catches him. He's not really angry but does run away when he can. Liu'er insists he's not good for her, but Jiuling thinks that at least he's good enough to trek all that way to offer flowers at her grave. -yup, Zhu Zan's sort of tsundere in his own way. Though he left quite roughly, he's still thinking about Jiuling and when he learns one of his men has a bad shoulder, he thinks of her immediately. Then he can't take it anymore and drops by for a midnight consultation. XD -Zhu Zan's bros are funny. They even guessed that he was the one who got molested, so that's why he doesn't like her. *snorfle* -back at Fang family, they are delighted and amused at Jiuling's letter. They suggest for Jinxiu to drop selling sugar figurines with Chen Qi and go help out Jiuling for the business side. -there's a super cute moment I have to pass on: Jiuli likes red bean pastries and Jiuling buys one in memory of her sister, even if she doesn't like them herself. Unfortunately, Lu Yunqi goes riding by and in the rush of everyone getting out of the way, her newly-bought red bean pastry got trampled. She's getting down to pick it up when she's stopped by Zhu Zan, who tells her she shouldn't be so disgracefully frugal. He tells her that they're totally unrelated and shouldn't meet, then she starts crying belatedly for her pastry (she really lets down her emotional barriers with him lol). He takes this the wrong way until she tells him about the pastry and surprise! he gets her a new one right away. He's still acting like a tsundere while running away after this lol. It does get Jiuling to laugh and munch her pastry. It still tastes weird to her though. XD -a lot of signs that Yunqi really did love Jiuling. All his lovers/concubines are like her in some way and he's very sad. He also remembers things she told him, like about disliking red bean paste. His favorite concubine sounds like Jiuling and he gets her to say his name a lot. And later he just wants to go home after an assassination mission, but ends up going alone somewhere else when someone mentions Jiuli. He's just lying there all alone and muttering he wants to 'go home.' ;-; -Jinxiu and Chen Qi take over business side of Jiuling's medicine hall. -Jiuling gets pressed by Jinyiwei to cure Lu Yunqi's concubine, the one with the voice like hers. She discovers that all of them are like her in some way and this sickens her. She's also made to change her medicine hall's name (since it has 'Jiuling' in it). -once back, she runs into Zhu Zan with Ying Wang (a little royal kid). They argue, she ends up throwing up because of the emotional rollercoaster she went through before. The kid is super funny lol, he asks Zhu Zan if he got her pregnant. XD -poor Yunzhao confesses to Jiuling (roundabout way) but is turned down. -ahhhh, jerkface Lu Yunqi goes after Jiuling just because of her medicine hall's name. She changed it but it still has 'jiu' in the name. He even breaks and stomps it into the ground, then almost strangles her. Luckily Zhu Zan and his bros dropped by and fought the Jinyiwei, chasing them off. Jiuling gets public sympathy for this incident because 1) she's a good doctor, 2) who hasn't been unreasonably pressured by Jinyiwei, and 3) all this fuss over a name, sheesh. And Jiuling even explained why she couldn't change any more than she had. TBC~
Going to stick to basics or there'll be nothing but Great Walls of text: -at one point, Jiuling called in to cure her royal younger brother. She gets a pep-talk of sorts from Zhu Zan, who gets surprise-hugged. Treatment is successful. She also tries to dig up something her master left her, but is interrupted by Lu Yunqi who tries to choke her again. She seems to have passed on something to the old tutor she and her sister had. -annoying uppity royal doctors getting on her case along with Lu Yunqi and his Jinyiwei. Jiuling gets sent outside the city to deal with the raging pox epidemic. Zhu Zan and his bros are worried and Zhu Zan loiters around her despite himself. It looks like the epidemic was caused by Lu Yunqi to corner Jiuling into solving it, because of course the Emperor would set her on this task since she's famous as a godly doctor. And the pox is technically incurable. Zhu Zan finds Lu Yunqi, confronts him, and punches him in the face. I liked that part a lot. XD -Jiuling's 'solution' is more like prevention. The lives of those already who have it are up to fate, but she can use inoculation for the rest. I think she's using cowpox. Ugh, I think Lu Yunqi is starting to cotton onto Jiuling's personality and is sticking around... Jiuling feels nothing but disgust for him though. Lu Yunqi's idea of 'testing' is brutal, he captures people and brings them to Jiuling. She and her fellow doctors (not the royal ones) refuse because it's immoral -- they test it on themselves. And when they need kids for testing (since kids get it most easily), Zhu Zan brings kids who are on Imperial death row (because of their family) who voluntarily choose to try this out. If they live, the Emperor agrees to pardon them. Plus, you get the feeling that Zhu Zan trusts Jiuling to do right. -news spreads across the country. Yangcheng and Runan people believe her of course lol, they come running to the Capital for the inoculation right away. Others are skeptical. After Imperial family gets to testing it out and proclaiming it good, other people come. -WTF LU YUNQI. He suddenly decorates her place in red and announces he's found her fit to be his concubine. I hope Zhu Zan punches him again. Jiuling tells her people to just tear everything down and throw it out; her reputation is so strong right now that even Lu Yunqi shouldn't be able to force her. Plus there's still the Fang family's Imperial Edict. -WTFFFFF OMG LU YUNQI IS SO CRAZY. HE STILL WANTS TO GO AFTER JIULING. -public opinion is that Lu Yunqi is bullying Jiuling. -Ning Yunzhao is top scorer for civil examinations. O.O -YESSSS ZHU ZAN IS BACK TO PICK A FIGHT WITH LU YUNQI. GO GO ML~ Then Ning Yunzhao arrives on the scene. He hasn't heard about this Lu Yunqi business because he was busy with examinations. He teams up with Zhu Zan in a sense lol. He tells everyone that Lu Yunqi's deal is impossible because Jiuling's his fiancee. Later when Zhu Zan's in a private conversation with Jiuling, in a snit, we learn that this tsundere would have said Jiuling was his fiancee if Yunzhao hadn't said it first. Then Yunzhao later drops by and says it's technically fake too, and he's doing it to repay her. Jiuling says things will be squared between them with this. Back in Yangcheng, Ning family is going nuts lol, they don't get it. -Zhu Zan is unhappy and drinking with his bros. Don't worry Zhu Zan, she likes you best. Later we see that Yunqi's all beaten up when coming home. Apparently it's Zhu Zan's work. <3 -hmm, Jinyiwei's rampant with reason. Apparently the Emperor allows them to because he needs Lu Yunqi... maybe this guy's the only support propping him up. Plus Jiuling asks Zhu Zan a curious question on why he's so good to the Emperor. Those things are probably related but I guess we'll see. -OMGG NUUUUU. Lu Yunqi tries to corner/embarrass/ruin Jiuling again. Zhu Zan saves her but is implicated big time and given into hands of Jinyiwei and tortured. Jiuling goes off to save him while winning the admiration of his bros. This episode made me really hate Lu Yunqi and super admire Zhu Zan. Also Jiuling's bedside manner is hilariously ruthless lol. -Jiuling leaves the capital. It was part of the agreement for getting to Zhu Zan she made with Lu Yunqi (that asshole). Fang Jinxiu's staying at the Capital and holding down the fort. Of course, Lu Yunqi means to grab her as she's leaving, but Zhu Zan has also made a move along with his bros. -Jiuling's master's secret book is actually a book of war. Map, tactics & formations, weapons, etc. So he meant it when he said he wasn't a doctor. though there are some medical bits in there too O.O -Jiuling's gone home to Yangcheng at the Fang estate. Ning family going crazy like a soap opera tantrum lol, only Yunzhao is cool as a cucumber. Both Chengyu and Yunzhao plan on gently wooing Jiuling. These poor guys. Zhu Zan is the only guy who really seems to stick in her mind. She randomly thinks of him quite a lot. -I forgot to mention, but Jiuli endlessly tries to get Lu Yunqi to let go of Princess Jiuling and leave Jiuling-as-Zhenzhen alone. It never works because he's a crazy yandere stalker at this point. TBC~
