Brown cherry mx.. i miss that. I am currently on a crappy laptop, but my gaming station (not currently where I live) had a brown cherry mx keyboard too and this laptop is like 5 years old so its not optimal for gaming or even typing imo

Is there anything outside of twitch response gaming that actually needs the precision and haptic feedback of high end mechanical keyboards? Or any mechanical keyboard for that matter, i mean does it actually matter for typing?

They are much nicer to type on. It's a lot easier to kinda feel the keys because the point where the keystroke registers isn't where the key bottoms out like a rubber dome keyboard. Once you get used to it, you'll probably be able to type a bit faster. The fact that there is also different coloured switches which have different resistance/weight/activation points means that you can find something which suits you. They are also pretty satisfying to type on. The keys also last a lot longer due to the nature of the switches, you're going to get a lot more keystrokes with a mechanical, there isn't any rubber/membrane to slowly degrade over use. Many people use them for typing and not gaming at all.

If you're ever out and pass by a large electronics store or something just peek inside and see if there's any you can try, they feel really nice. Just remember that different switches will feel quite different.
Is it a laptop? By your rather interesting description, it sounds like scissors which are common on some types of laptops. You can see the rubber dome in the middle, but it's still technically a scissor keyboard.
