Spoiler: Kickstarter link https://www.kickstarter.com/project...&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=fb_naruto190705 If you don't want to watch the youtube video, the kickstarter has a shorter video. Summary: New technology for reading manga that has all the volumes of Naruto (+many more) kickstarter project. Do you think this will apply to the novel community? Would you buy it? Edit: Added poll
So, it's an expensive ebook reader that removes the convenience of using a tablet as well as removing the tactile sensation of a book. It's probably not the future.
Yup. I was thinking for people who buy the LN it can reduce book space. Edit: If this is successful, then LN companies might join/use.
That's what I'm getting at, it's a tablet inside a book, meaning it's not as portable and convenient to use as a tablet is (since it's covered in an entire hardcover book). At the same time, it doesn't have paper and therein doesn't have the feeling and smell and collectability of a book. What reason is there to buy an ebook that only works for one series instead of on a normal tablet that can hold thousands of series. If you're someone looking to collect things, then surely there being more things to collect is better, and books don't break down as electronics do.
You sure it's not vaporware or just a shitty piece of tech/programming that they are now trying to recoup their production costs from?
No. The whole fun part of owning light novels and manga IS having them take up so much space. It's a similar reason why people keep buying physical games even though nowadays most discs don't even have the game data on it anymore.
Cool, just wanted to share. - some things to let you know: there's still paper in between the cover and tablet, you can view multiple manga by switching the SD-card (like the DS), it's good for people who don't have a lot of room and for those who cannot get the full series of manga (not sure which manga are part of the project)
I see that... what I am curious about is wtf someone would by that.. I can go grab some paper, cardboard and plastic and make one myself... But it takes much more space and much less convenient to carry with you. It seems to me like they want to defraud kids into spending money on something that they either already have or can get cheaper... omfg....
that is exactly why mlms and other crap works so well.... I am looking at how long it takes to refresh that, and even if I was interested in it, I wouldn't paid even half the price for something that works this shitty... Well, they at least give out the actual manga with it, which is somewhat offsetting the cost, since the manga itself cost quite a lot with all those volumes.. But they only need to buy it once, which is really nothing with how much they raised.
they did already, look above. Many probably came from that anime channel. It's quite popular EDIT: in regards to "is it applied to LN?" poll, LN is quite fine to read on a normal ebook. I've bought a few and read it. No problems. No need to invent something new...
It's just an interresting take on your usual ebook reader. The screen seems a little to small (I tried reading mangas on mine and it's not confortable for text intensive mangas as the screen is way to small, even if it has one of the latest E-carta HD screen with a great resolution), they removed a lot a functions ebook reader have (the function to zoom in for exemple) and it's waaaay too expensive (560€ !). I still had a good laugh when the guy in the video called a standard SD card a nintendo memory card and smirked when he had a book with a manga factor form in hand and called it an anime ...
Eh, sure it would be nice to have all of the stuff in one volume. There's just three problems: 1) Durability. A single accidental EMP from 1000 km away will wipe everything out. 2) Japanese people are actually very old fashioned. There are people who still use the old flip phones (those that still work anyway) and fax machines. You don't know what a fax machine is? Well, there you go! 3) People with high static electricity like Ai-chan will be going through these very quickly. Everything electronic in Ai-chan's hands get broken very quickly. Also, batteries leak. If you leave it plugged in without using it for a year, it will leak. Flash drives also eventually gets wiped if it doesn't have power running through it for a long time. Ai-chan found out about this when Ai-chan tried to research about stuff that lasts the longest for keeping records. Apparently SSD and flash drives have the lowest data integrity period when not powered.
