Re:Monster (Manga/Novel) - this is the only manga (I remember) I have read that fits your request. The story is quite interesting, I guessed this is the reason why I read it a few years ago. Extra: I am not sure if you gonna like the novel I recommend above so I'll just mention one novel that has a great plot but it has not a harem. This Game Is Too Realistic (kingdom building and the mc can be ruthless against his enemies)

I forgot to mention that MC in World of Cultivation only has 1 woman. There isn't much romance in this novel. But he does fight with his army of people who are very loyal to him and builds up the largest power (sect) in the world. You could perhaps also try Zhanxian - MC does not really fight with armies, but he is responsible for making his sect the largest in the 3 realms and his sect does fight when necessary. He also gets 37 women if I remember correctly. However you mostly see him fighting cq travelling with one or several of his women or alone. Bringing the farm to live in another world - In first world there is some large scale fighting. However afterwards MC continues ascending to higher level worlds visit worlds on same level and ascend again on his own. A few thousand chapters into the novel he takes along all the people of a certain world and continues travelling and fighting and ascending with them. This MC also has several women (about 6 I think). The novel is still ongoing at 12.000 chapters (I'm at 8.000), so it is very long. Not sure this it what you mean and like. I am the Monarch - no harem. Novel hasn't been completely translated yet. MC in this novel joins the army and slowly increases his rank with the purpose of becoming a Monarch. Lots of fighting with the army. If you also like reading manga and watching anime, I could mention a few more.

Xianxianovel is at ch 585 right now. I read the non-translated chapters in MTL. I've read it several times. I personally really like it and have no trouble reading the MTL.
