Lately I have been reading a certain genre/topic (not sure which one it stands in.) that only seems to be done in chinese novels and maybe other asian novels. I spent some time looking for same genre/topic done by english authors or more western origin fanfics/novels, ending up finding none or they are buried too deep in the internet.

The genre/topic that lately caught my interest is introduction of existing game/anime from our world into another world or alternate universe by the main character, having the highlight being more of the interaction and reaction of strangers to the media that we know, love and/or hate. There is some minor highlight story challenge of the MC having to work and plan how to succeed from basically no funding or resources, still it is mostly based on the reactions.

Either the Black Tech internet cafe novel which has mc sent to a wuxia world and set up with a internet cafe system, similar to the gorment food supplier, Black Tech is done really well with the fact that 90% of the conflicts doesn't happen to the MC but between the side characters due to the internet cafe existing.

There is also the chinese novels about MC getting sent to alternate universes that doesn't have original games and/or animes, MC cheat is perfect memory of those games or animes. Which they reproduce into the alternate universe that holds games/anime in a higher standard than our own.

So just bringing up a discussion about other CN only genre/topics that would like to see being done by western authors.

As a side note if anyone knows of any english fanfics/novels that fit the above genre/topic then please share too.

The reason why you won't see this in western published novels is because of copyright laws. You can't use someone else's protected intellectual property in your stuff and sell it for money unless you get their permission. It's also looked down upon if the only thing the author can do is rip off other people's ideas and use it for their own stories. The closest you'll get in published works is stuff like "Ready Player One" or "Wreck it Ralph", but that doesn't fall into the genre of someone introducing real world anime/games.

For the fanfic world, authors mainly stay within the universe and don't deviate from the original story line that much. Original characters introduced into the story universe aren't as popular as reading a fanfic about the main character with a different personality or events as well. For a story like Black Tech it wouldn't be a fanfiction so much as it would be like a web novel. You're introducing a new original character in a new original world interacting with other original characters. The only fanfic part is that you'll use the storylines/ideas of a game/anime, but I doubt you'll be introducing the actual characters from them.

There is a gamer Naruto completed fic by the shitty author of The Spider. It's not bad but not good either.
MC steals comics and makes them into novels, it doesn't matter really coz in the end he doesn't need money or does anything with it, shitty author.
