How do you deal with laptop not charging that leads to battery issues
The usual troubleshooting did not work
Now I have to buy a new battery, looking for ways to prevent that from happening
Although I feel buying HP was the root of it all...

I suppose you could say... the battery had a low HP.

    Jokes aside.
Battery issue? What kind? Just a low charge as my joke imply? Or is it the charger plug?

    Battery not charging
It happened for a while and now the battery is bad
I installed OKO by Lenovo but it might have been a little too late
Battery only lasts about 30 mins now
The laptop is not even a year old...

Not sure what model laptop you having but check it with Google I'm sure there's answers.
Last time my old laptop screen flat out blank screen sometimes when I check it on Google I found a lot of people having the same problem and it can be fix but the repairing cost not worth it tho you can DIY with risks included.

For laptops you shouldnt use it while charging at 100%, it drastically reduces the lifespan of it

Woah this is a big issue and since not even a year old you can ask them what's the problem with your warranty?

If your battery is fully charged don't leave the laptop running on it plus the power brick. The laptop battery will keep using its charge then charging up greatly reducing your battery's lifespan. Instead either use the power brick itself with the battery removed or battery itself.

Lenovo is not a brand that I trust, go for windows or HP next time you buy a computer. Otherwise just look up the model like DevianT said

Might sound like a myth but Try it with laptops with higher specs, very noticable for battery runtime over a few months going down everytime. Laptop Batteries wear out eventually due to use just like cellphone batteries where they will take a certain number of charges before deteriorating.

a tip for the future is that you should leave your devices with ful battery before turning them off
because the battery lasts longer when it´s fully charged (and shorter if you leave it empty all the time)

    1. You should check the laptop. From my experiences there is usually a problem with onboard charger (is that a thing?, not sure what it's called).
    2. If you take the advice to use power grid only without battery make sure it's connected to UPS. Sudden cut of power will risk damage on Hard disk and motherboard.
Not sure if I got these correct for modern laptops. I have my lenovo for 10 years now and everything is fine except the battery, only last 10 mins now lol.

It's too late, you need a new battery now especially if you're using it outside. When you're at home just load your battery to full and unplug it, just directly plug your laptop to the power adapter in that way your battery's life will last but don't forget to fully charge the battery a day.
