When I think of Banda, I can't help but picture the Banderhobb from D&D. It's not just the name that sounds similar, the lore of the banderhobb sounds so much like Banda's situation that I simply cannot see a world in which Denske didn't base him directly off of one of these creatures.

So, the banderhobb is a kind of demon that is usually the servant of a far more powerful demon or monstrous creature with great amounts of magic. The role that the banderhobb serves for said demon is normally to capture humans that their master might want for some reason or other, and then bring them to their master. Despite their gigantic appearance, they are actually very stealthy creatures and great at infiltration.

Seriously, about the only word in that entire lore that doesn't perfectly describe Banda is that instead of kidnapping Mei and bringing her to Van, he was created by Van who already had her in order to bring her back to her parents.

 

I drew the proportion which one do you think fits banda?

 

Are you saying you already drew a new version other than the one you already linked that takes my banderhobb version into account? If so, then where? If not, then none of them because none of them look remotely like a banderhobb. That's essentially what I was saying when I said that my image of Banda is influenced by the banderhobb.

Still, if you're asking me to select off of what you linked before, I would have to say I absolutely do not see Banda as an ant man, which is what that image looks like. The ant man look totally clashes with everything we have heard about him except for the part about him having six legs. However, it also describes him as using the DK fur as a large part of his combat tactic, which brings to mind a far more bulky appearance. He also brought the kids and Ulrika inside his body. This second part does not necessarily mean much, he has done this before with his little child body with his friends, but it's still hard to envision the insect man appearance with that in mind.

There was also a description of him that involved some tentacles around his waist. (I am envisioning how the original model of the Scyllia from greek myth has wolves on her waist like a belt.) Given that tentacle and Scyllia comparison, I would picture a far more upright body with the insectoid legs in more of a hexagonal arrangement around his body in a circle. That would be kinda crowded to draw, but that's what I can piece together given the descriptions that have been given of him so far.

Yeah, saw that one already. I think we're miscommunicating all over the place. This is the one I was talking about in my last post.

 

Personally, I tend to think of the Bandersnatch from Alice in Wonderland given some descriptions of Bander's mouth making me think of a line about "while those frumious jaws went savagely snapping around"

There was some concept art from that live action Disney adaptation that also reminded me of Bander's black fur "coat":

-mouth lined with fangs (牙がぞろりと並んだ口内) (demon king's fangs)
-has a huge eyeball that can come out of his throat (奥から巨大な眼球) (demon king's evil eye)
-two antenna usually hidden in hair (普段は髪に隠れている二本の触角) (demon king's antenna)
-has a long, snake-like tongue (蛇のような舌) (demon king's tongue)

Though if you want to simplify it down: 1. Draw an inhuman monster. 2. Put a Van wig on it's head. 3. Congrats, it's Bander!

The mouth is either really big or really wide.Either way, inhumanly strange.

I could be wrong, but I think the fur only looks like it's worn as a robe. In reality, it's just grown fur.

Do still try to read the MTL, you should get used to it after all, and after that, you should be able to properly join us at the latest chapters. If you want, you can try Discord to get fast responses for any doubts you have.
