The one you translated as "Satan" should be "Shaitan", it is an actual word in arabic that refer to a group of demon, meaning "ones who bring despair". Satan has been used many times already and the author write is as "seitan".

Didnt Van already picked "dead spirit mage" ? the way you used 'droped' kinda sounds like "Dead Spirit Mage" job was removed from list of available jobs and new job showed up in its place(Divine Spirit Mage)

Yep, he took it in chapter 241 (that's how he got the Divine Spirit Magic) and got it to level 100 in chapter 260. :blobpeek:

Does anyone else think that maybe Vengeful Berserker can't give Van any more skill correction and that is why he gained no skill level after his job change? Going by the name it should give correctoins for "Super-human strenght" (already evolved), "Shout" (almost level 10), "Unarmed Technique" (evolved because of soul breaking) and "Increase attack when unarmed" (evolved, I think), and by the "Vengeful" part the one skill that evolved to "Divine Enemy".

Would like to see some Bando and Me-kun for the side chapter BTW.

Some jobs are harder to complete than others, but are proportionately rewarding. Compared to Demiurge and Great Demon King and other similarly high-end jobs, Vengeful Berserker is actually rather tame. This job was first introduced as a job option all the way back in chapter 81, before Van became virtually unstoppable. I suspect that it was triggered by Van's meltdown in chapter 77. At any rate, we're used to seeing new jobs give Van skill levels and attribute bonuses of mythical proportions, so Vengeful Berserker should temporarily break that trend.

    Hell yeah!
That reminds me... How often does Banda contact the main body? If it's been a while since their last fusion, he's in for quite a shock the next time he does it. "So now I can play movies and grow super-muscles and eat myself to heal? What has he been doing?"

It will probably look like [Spirit Warrior], where it does not make any changes at the time of the job change, but shows its potential in battle. The [Spirit Warrior] showed its true power in the Heinz vs. Vandalieu fight, since Vandalieu fought using mainly his materialized spirit. And the "Vengeful Berserker" must show its power when Vandalieu meets with Heinz once again.

    New chapter! Back to Origin!

The Braver guy with PTSD or something visited the Amemiya household. He saw Bander because his cheat skill allows him to see the aura of life. After thinking he was hallucinating things, he was forced to do a double-take. Bander then said something like "Cool, you can see me." and went back to helping the older Amemiya sibling with his math homework. Later on, they hold an intelligent conversation about current matters in Origin, like the death attribute and the ongoing conspiracy by that one jerk who erased all evidence that the Undead was Japanese.

Meanwhile, Rodcorte finished up healing(?) Edgar and returned him to Alda. One of his familiar spirits thought it wise to tell Alda that some of the Demon King's soul powder was used, but Rodcorte ignored this very fine advice, so I can see Alda getting livid about it later. The Demon King's soul powder is apparently vestigial remnants of memory and emotion, and side effects include occasional nonsensical déjà vu. Rodcorte isn't that worried about it, because a broken familiar spirit sent from Alda (Luke) was also used in the repair process, and that should have a greater influence on Edgar than meaningless parts of the Demon King. Until Van inevitably finds Edgar, I bet.

Linking the 2 stories together, Rodcorte finally discovered that Van is somehow present in Origin, and influencing a few people there. He's also confused, as he doesn't understand why Guidance works that way in a world without the status and job systems. It's openly speculated that those people were guided only halfway, and will transfer to Vida's system as soon as they cross into Lambda. Rodcorte goes on to think that Van plans to silently invade Origin, then make everybody undead to more easily influence them with his guidance. He's also convinced that the god of Origin is in on this somehow, just letting it all happen to spite Rodcorte. Rodcorte decides to do the one thing he can, which is to warn the jerk conspirator about Bander. Before he does that, the familiar spirits helpfully remind Rodcorte that Van isn't as unhinged or violent as he seems, even if he's strange and scary. Together, they all come to realize that affirmative action in Lambda isn't needed just yet, because an all-out war between Vida and Alda would most likely result in Alda's victory, and they figure that Van's not planning to quickly guide lots of people by slaughtering them, much less prepare for a pointless war. Of course, Van's probably going to overturn that prediction by doing something that falls completely outside their expectations. It wouldn't be the first time. :blobcheeky:

Anyway, that was how I understood things, but I really just skimmed through it several times, so let me know if I read some parts wrong.

I think it is the lack of information.

If Alda's forces were to gather now and defeat Vida's forces, Alda's side would win. While Van may be the strongest, he's only one person. He can't fight an entire pantheon at once.

But didn't Alda's faction just discuss a week or two ago they'd only be able to all fight Van for like 5 minutes if they actually fully descended, and they don't have any powerful heroes to incarnate into other than Heinz and company? :hmm:

That discussion was about one or several gods. How many descending familiar spirits can Van shoot down at once? How many champions can he kill? Van's battles are typically against a single strong person or a small competent squad or an army of small fry. An entire legion of gods are just too much right now.
Besides, Van is the strongest fighter on Vida's side. Basically everyone else is a lot weaker than Van, and some are occupied with holding up Vida's barrier. Vida's side is almost completely relying on Van to win their battles for them until they are actually ready to declare war.
And that's all assuming Bellwood isn't freed by the time such a war happens.

It's also possible that Rodcorte is grossly overestimating Alda's power by overlooking the gods' technical limitations. And we can't forget that Alda can't publicly declare war now, since there isn't much he can say about the current Demon King (who is less evil but scarier than the previous one) beyond vague warnings, and he only now restored his champion's team.

If he's using Long Distance Control, the clones are just him and he controls them directly. However, this method probably has a limited range. If he splits his soul into familiar spirits, they're basically mini-mes that act independently until they return to him. However, this method may be less effective, teamwork-wise.

I'm pretty sure that Van wouldn't be able to find Alda's god area by himself, and neither would anybody just tell him where it is. Trying to send spirit clones there is a doomed endeavor.

That was about them descending then and there, while Van was in Alchlem, without any suitable heroes nearby for them to descend onto. They had previously send all of their heroes away from the city Van was in, so the gods would have to descend as-is, with limited time.

rn van has two options in case he goes on the offensiv:
◆ slow approach: converting people to strengthen Vida's side and weaken Alda's
◆ fast approach: invading Alda's god area to fight them

they were considering van's chances on the fast approach. As for the information they lack, it is the fact that van is stronger once he isn't bound by physical matter. He has the demon king's fragments and a soul surpassing several gods in strength. They probably didn't consider that.

They definitely know. It's one of the many reasons they're angry at Rodcorte, though they can't afford to stay angry at an ally. They were also keen to inform Heinz about it, because he needs to know about his mortal enemy.

The most surprising point in this chapter for me was the part in which the Redcorte angels talked about the percentage of Vandalieu's victory in the "divine area" of the Arda gods if he invaded. Even though Vandalieu, as a form of spiritual life is superior to humans, is still inferior to that of a "complete god."
If Vandalieu really needs to invade the "divine area" of the Arda, it would be better to increase the level and number of soul-related skills, choose job related to the soul, the afterlife and anti-gods, and of course increasing the specification of your soul choosing jobs from the mythology of Earth and Origin.

That is the thing, they were discussing (angels only) if Vida's side have the chance of winning this war (assuming that thay now know more about Van's power since last time they checked), currently it is a 10% probability (using Calcualtion) of winning, this is taking into account that Alda and the other gods have been being worshipped for 100k years by the majority of the world while Vida's side have 3 great gods that are just now recovering + relatively minor gods + rank 13 beings that are more or less equal to said minor gods + Van that is one of their strongest "ground" fighter, the 10% comes in if Van decide to invade a place where he would not only be weakened but also in their home ground and is not like thay are stupid enough to send him the canon fodder gods only to have Van eat them and be strenghtened... Well maybe a couple of gods will do that but will be closely followed by the older gods.

They also said that if it was on the ground, it is about a 50-50 fight since Van can use his army and have his body, and that if he ever was toimplement Roddiot's plan of making Origin into SMT's Law Ending to empower Vida then is an almost 100% win chance since Origin have many many more people living in it that in Lambda.

About Origin, the reason that spirits guy can see Bando is because he was given one of Van's pieces/blessing/soul fragment but they think is because of his skill because they don't know he was given one (they do feel some king of kinship though). He also mentioned before and in this chapter that he had recurrent allusinations and nightmares (probably because of Avadon) but began to stop after Van gave him "(demon king) eyes". And since I think this is something important to note: Bando and pals' family interaction is freaking adorable!

Look like next chapter is gonna be about things on Alda/Heinz side, who is prepared for Edgar wanting to "join the main body" or becoming an accidental mole by unconciously showing Van what is happening over there? Oh, and damphir girl's letter, let's not forget about that.

How much does rodcorte know about van's current soul?
He could have gotten some clues from the dreams of the people in origin and druid guy talking to banda, but there shoudn't be much, right? Aside from those instances he didn't even see fragments of his soul ever since he reincarnated iirc.
And do the other gods even know that he can eat souls and gods or does it just look like he is breaking them?
