Recommendations Leading an Army

    I need a novel where MC leads armies not just for a short while but as a major part of the novel.

    There are novels like HJC, WSSTH, etc.. where they lead an army for a few chapters and move on.

    I wanna read one where they climb from foot soldier to general.
    The novel doesn't have to be confined to just being in the army but it should last longer than what most novels have.

    Release that Witch although MC is the general/leader from the start. The manga "Kingdom" is exactly what you are looking for although not a novel.

    Release that Witch is also in my reading list and yeah kingdom is where I got the urge to read a novel with the very same setting :D

    Castle of Black Iron, although the MC only last around 70 chapters in the army when he first joins, becoming only first lieutenant, he later gets his own army and leads it as a sort of on-field general similar to Shin from Kingdom. Plus there is a massive war coming up with the demons involving the whole world and you can bet he will be controlling armies and participating.

    Also reading it atm, I'm currently at the point where the demon war just started and he got back from a 3 year time skip.

    Sorry bud, only thing I can think of is The Ultimate Evolution, but although the story revolves around military ranks and there are hints of a greater military power in control to try and make some sort of Super Soldier, the story itself so far is unique and nothing like normal army/war. MC is thrown to random scenerios involving famous literature such as Star Wars and he must find ways to survive not only the scenario but also from other "players" like himself, meanwhile he gains prestige and improves his military ranking which gives him access to certain perks and classified information. It feels a bit like the manga Gantz. I absolutely love it and so far the Avatar and Pirates of the Caribbean scenario left a deep impression on me.
