But the monster core leeches human qi something fierce making it twice the effort for half the result.And the Sumeru Ring makes it even worse.

I can't say that she made the wrong decision, but it still seems a bit cold to just assume that her brother was dead and run for her life. Its nice to see an MC that considers the moral implications of slaughtering for face, fun and profit. Its also nice that there'll be three new guards. It adds a bit of suspense to the competition since you don't know for sure who, besides him, will get in. It seems a bit strange that his Turtle art hides his human cultivation too. I wonder if he can reveal his human cultivation without revealing his monster cultivation? If not, it'll probably cause him endless trouble in the future with ignorant people, certain of his weakness.
If hes alive, she can search for him later, if hes captured/killed in unknown circumstances then she flee, it was the right decision.
Like I said, I can't say its the wrong decision, it was just a cold one. Though, to address your point, if he were captured, knowing who captured him would be very helpful, especially if she actually managed to become a guard.
She got very few chance to become a guard anymore, I wonder if she will even risk participating on her own.
