I would like to stay near the shore. I’m planning to have the ability to move large equipment if needed from Earth or Town Hall to my base. I don’t want to explore. I want to build what I want to build. It is a straight shot by water to Town Hall. If I use a ATV it will be a longer route. Also an ATV or most vehicals need gas. I’m not going to have a storage tanker near by anytime soon. Sailing is free and can be repaired a lot easier than a machine.

Don’t know. All I do know is that the map says it’s impassable. The only reason I got over is because I ask the captain of our ship if he could use his dingy to drop me off on the other side.

Hmm that is rather vague, since that means Most likely that it is a fast moving One and not shallow , so could be like the river Thames? Or a 20 + m Wide river that has a strong current like after or before a water fall kinda. Most likely like the Thames so 400 meters or so perhaps? Maybe only 200? Well hoppfully the One who "made it cough cough "god"" could maybe clarify, maybe with a irl example since that is easiest for the group/posters. Also is it from a lake to Sea ? Since Sea to Sea makes 0 sense since both at same height which means like 0 current since it would be straight no downhill basically. Then i Wonder whats in that lake? Maybe än Island someone can Take and defend as their own?;););)

The only clues is that it’s a river between the ocean and a lagoon. The river would have to be wide and deep enough for a ocean going ship. 200 meters sounds like a good distance, with a depth of say at least 50 meters.
I like the island idea. Most island industries is fishing. Not my thing, but there might be someone else who would enjoy that.

Like @Cutter Masterson mentioned, the river is wide and deep enough for ocean-going ships to traverse.

The Grand Lagoon is about as large as Lake Ontario, which technically means it's large enough to have its own weather system and tides.

As for the river, the straightforward immediate comparison would be the Saint Lawrence River, which drains Lake Ontario. The following image is of St Lawrence River at Quebec City:

East River isn't particularly long, and Port Town is only 50 km away from the ocean. Most large rivers drain into the ocean as a river delta, which in many instances can be enormous. It absolutely and definitely would not be able to be forded on foot. At the very least, you need a raft or ferry.

    Sunday Apr-29 (cloudy):
    • 5am: Like normal I woke up and started sharpening my knife and axe. The sunrise should be coming any minute now. I love the freshness of the air in the morning and getting to see the sparkle of the light over the water is breathtaking.
    • 6am: Sunrise. I had breakfast and continue to love the gentle sounds of the water. My heart has always been with the sea.
    • 8am: I headed out to the dead forest near by. What I needed is a log about three feet wide and about twenty feet long.
    • 12pm: I found several options, but it came down to a three and half by fifteen feet. It was twelve so I call it lunch.
    • 1pm: My game plan is to move that tree over to my camp site and start building a dugout outrigger using fire and clay.
    • 6pm: Setting up my block and tackle to move this tree took awhile. Than hauling it 50 feet from tree to tree was time consuming. Especially since the tree was a good three hundred feet away. I wish I had brought more rope, but at least I got it here before nightfall. Thank god this block and tackle is rig to handle two tons, otherwise I would have to do this work over there. Break time.
    • 7pm: It will be dark soon. I made dinner and called it a day.
    Status: Healthy, tired.

    Monday Apr-30 (light rain):
    • 5am: Like normal I woke up and started sharpening my knife and axe. While watching the rain fall on the lagoon. The air smelt even better during a rain.
    • 6am: Sunrise. I had breakfast, with the rain I can’t see lighting any fires. My game plan for today is to set up for tomorrow and do camp chores.
    • 7am: Set up fish traps. I gathered a bunch of clay while I was here a brought it back to camp. My idea was to light a good size fire and start burning the inside the log. While burning the inside I will apply clay along the sides to better control the fire. That way I won’t need to fear burning to far anywhere and keep the heat high. I figured this will take me around a month to complete.
    • 10am: I started setting up traps along some game trails near by.
    • 12pm: It’s twelve so lunch time. Took a break.
    • 2pm: Went out and refilled my 30 liter water filter tank.
    • 5pm: I have to figure out a way to continue burning even when it’s raining. My thoughts at first was using my tent, but I thought that could be bad. What if it caught the tent on fire. The second idea I had was to find simi thin four foot rocks to cover the canoe. Than the fire would go out without enough air. I’ll make a gap between wood and stone by placing a few small rocks to creat a gap for air. Wait wouldn’t it also increase the heat like a furnace. The build time could decrease, but down side you would have to be constantly vigilant.
    • 6pm: I head to the lagoon to look for some rocks. I brought my wagon just in case I came across a rock that would suit me and if I find more than one it would be even better.
    • 8pm: It will be dark soon. I was only able to find one and it was a good hour down the shore than digging it out took a good half an hour. Luckily coming back took less time, since I was focused on getting back to camp. Instead searching for a rock. I made dinner and called it a night.

    Tuesday May-01 (sunny):
    • 5am: I woke up and started sharpening my knife and axe. While watching the lagoon.
    • 6am: Sunrise. I had breakfast. Game plan for today find more four foot rocks, check traps, start burning, get more clay. At least I won’t be bored.
    • 7am: Went a gathered more clay.
    • 8am: Started burn. I placed a lot of clay on the log. To keep the fire burning where I need it to. I wanted it as close as possible to a straight edge along the bulwark.
    • 10am: Check fish trap. Caught five crawfish’s. That’s going to hit the spot for dinner. Place the net back in the water to wait until dinner.
    • 11am: Check the game trail traps. No joy. Maybe I should place them near a watering hole?
    • 12pm: It’s twelve so lunch time. Took a break.
    • 1pm: I’m always checking the fire every 30 min to an hour. I head out to find more four foot rocks.
    • 2pm: I found three good size rock.
    • 5pm: Found Another two.
    • 6pm: I found two more. That’s a total of eight. That should be enough for now, but to cover all fifteen feet I’m going to need twice as much. This is going to take awhile.
    • 8pm: I put out the fire and called it a day. I boiled the crawfish and added it to my dinner. Than went to bed.

    • 9pm: Weather looks bad. I set up my second tarp high off the ground as a "shed" to keep my firewood and other supplies dry.
    • 10pm: Collect some kindling for tomorrow before it begins raining.
    Monday Apr-30 (Jack), Raining:
    • 7am: Hard rain. Spend the day making string twine from the tree bark I harvested last week. I produce about 24 ft of twine from the bark I processed from 12x 2" white oak trees.
    • 12pm: I start a small fire under the storage tent. I watch it constantly and keep it small to prevent it from going out of control. I boil water and finish yesterday's half of a mountain house. I eat 2 servings of apples too.
    • 1pm: Rain begins to slow down. Thus I go outside and cut down 32x 2" diameter white oak poles and debranch.
    • 4pm: Rain has stopped. I guess I can cut down some small trees. I cut down 6x 4" diameter white oak trees, debranch.
    • 6pm: Dinner, start another pack of mountain house.
    • 7pm: Strip bark from 12x 2" diameter white oak poles and soak in water.

    WIP [ @lychee I have a few questions ]
[1. Do I Include Shipping costs in the initial things I bring?]
[2. Can I set up my main base just outside the starting 'town'?]
[3. Are native animal populations going to be plentiful since we have not seen any 'top predators' like humans yet?]
[I may have more in the future, But I'll ask them then]

I believe Lychee will say yes for all three.
    1. Initial box and gear ship with you. So free.
    2. If you really wanted you could also build inside the beginner town. Inn, store, and etc.
    3. I believe it’s up to you, just don’t be to outrageous.

    1. What Cutter said — no shipping costs when you arrive because you carry it with you.
    2. Yup. In fact, you can start a hamlet or a village anywhere on the map if you wanted and had a few people.
    3. The main thing is to try to follow what the original person who discovered the tile wrote. If they put on the wiki that foxes are common... then they’re common. If you discover your own tile, you can make up whatever you find.
