As far as unlucky I'm gonna have to say Ichiban Urishirou no Daimaou , and the protag isn't a super genious except with magic, and he makes some crazy choices. Totally a guess though, I don't like watching animes where people are overly dumb. Dude is bored. Everyone else is tri-harding like crazy, but he is just bored silly. He tries to find ways to cure his boredom, but fails.
