In CD Linley had a soul in the shape of a sword, even though that never became relevant, and in many xianxias there are often side characters with a sword soul, but I was wondering if there were any MCs with a sword soul(and it's actually relevant). Any suggestions? Other special soul types would be interesting too. Edit: I mean, like people who are naturally gifted with the sword, people who can become one with the sword easily, etc. Essentially, orthodox swordsmen who focus on the sword.
sword soul? like literally shaped? not sure, but you could mean like a sword immortals soul, like ji ning from DE? if you mean actual shape, while not technically the primary, the MC of PMG has a dark sword or some shit in his book spirit
Chaotic Sword God... has 2 of them... and I think they're quite relevant... Peerless Martial God also deals with all kinds of spirits... I Shall Seal the Heavens has swords that have spirit or something along the lines... Transcending the Nine Heavens also has some Sword Spirit, though it kinda belongs to a sword...
His other work Desolate Era. It's mentioned many times that sword immortals have souks like swords. Also although not the MC the patriarch in ISSTH used his sword like soul to perform various divine abilities

PMG is off the mark just like CSG above, but DE would be somewhat close, if not spot on. I've only read the manga for TTNH and even then only the beginning of it, is the novel any better? I just remember him making medicine and playing with fire, which was really boring.
Ttnh is great after mc leaving the sect, he doesnt play with fire, his cheat almost the same like yu che, automatic extraction
If you're interested in books, you should check out a series called The Stormlight Archives. They have swords called Shard Blades that can bond with a person, and they can materialize them from thin air. Tho they aren't personalized, they can be taken from someone if they kill them or are given them. And they definitely become a big part of the story as time goes on (and a lot more becomes known about them towards the end of the second book (there are two books out of the series so far)). Dono if that's what you're looking for, but it seems similar? Tho one of the main characters prefers the spear and shows on many occasions, being one with the spear, so.. spear soul, lol. It's a bit thicker reading than your typical LN, but I'd at least recommend looking it up to see if that's something you'd be interested in. One of my favorite series right now.
Not what I mean... If you read Demon's Diary then I mean something like the sword chick from the heaven sword sect, or Ji Ning's sword heart in DE. It has nothing to do with a physical sword with a spirit in it, or a spiritual sword, or anything of the sort. It's like, an innate aptitude of the person themselves for swords. A Lot of books describe this as that person having their own soul in the shape of a sword, allowing them to easily communicate with their sword and understand swordplay. PMG is also a good example.
Transcending the Nine Heavens After they get to the middle heaven it should match what you want as they have special ranks for swordsmen and saber masters. They do feature before that but the lower heaven is more about political intrigue and war tactics
