Forgotten Title looking for novel..MC has peng/roc bloodline

can't remember the title but MC and his father were banished back to father's small clan while mother and younger sister were kept by mothers big clan.
Younger Sister had some kind of supreme body wile MC was seen as trash by mother's clan.
As I recall at a fairly early point in the story he gets the bloodline/techniques of the peng/roc clan with the help of a vermillion bird or phoenix and later is ofically accepted as a grandson by one of the elders of the peng/roc clan (old woman)
