Do you guys have any recommendations with these kinds of novels? Like Trash of the Count's Family perhaphs, or Novel's Extra, Editor is Novel's extra, and etc. where there are NO romance or shounen-ai whatsoever but for some reason, readers are able to become very invested in MC's port (where they are shipped with other people lol)? It would be nicer if it has great world building and all but slife of life would be nice too(if MC's goal is leading to personal/successful development or something). Any time period is accepted! Historical, Medieval, Modern, or Futuristic, I will accept it! Even Apocalyptic! I just enjoy the feeling of being able to ship MC with different characters and getting confused as to who's the best one lol. Thank you!!
Second Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint and Residence of Monsters. Also A Mild Noble’s Vacation Suggestion (it's in the summary). There is a manga too, the comments on mangadex are gold.
You can always watch the Chinese drama adaptations of BL novels. Since homosexuality is banned, all you get is teasing
These are all wildly different genres but all are no-romance with multiple potential ships: Legend of Sun Knight Chen Yue Zhi Yao Fu Xing Dong Lai Residence of Monsters Dominion’s End The King’s Avatar Case Book And these are no-romance ships too, but only one potential ship (between two main characters): The Real Awakening Daomu Biji Unique Legend Illusions, Lies, Truth Kill no More Gong Hua There’s a bunch of Chinese animations that have this theme as well. Also if you happen to be able to read Chinese, I have plenty more recs lol
How to Live as the Enemy Prince The S-Classes That I Raised What Happens When the Second Male Lead Powers Up Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai Vs Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko - This manga is hilarious so if you haven’t read it yet, I recommend doing so!
LSK doesn’t have romance. Unless you’re talking about the side characters or 39 (officially a different series)? Which I wouldn’t really call romance either...it’s just stated as a fact post time-skip with no details whatsoever (and by then the focus is on a different cast anyways). Dominion’s End I’m behind on, but from the volumes I’ve read, there wasn’t any romance. They were too busy trying to survive. Either way, I think both are still valid suggestions to OP’s request - lots of shipping material. Writing romance is honestly not Yu Wo’s strength so rather than forcing it, she usually omits it entirely.
SA is still romance, hence the OP’s request. It has romantic progression and involves a confession at some point (often at the end). It just doesn’t have explicit content.
That’s only in 39. LSK is a separate series. I wasn’t recommending 39 lol. Nor is Grisia the main character in 39 (OP was requesting for MC to not have relationships). In any case, the fandom alone also proves that LSK very much matches OP’s request. It’s been recommended by many others on tons of older NUF threads with this exact same request too. And OP can decide if they want to read it or not regardless of my recommendation.
