Forgotten Title Looking for this novel which I'd read a long time ago

    I'd read it a really long time ago so I don't remember much.

    It was a fantasy novel with musical/symphonic special powers/abilities.
    I think the novel was set on a sort of flying Island City/Country but I am not sure about this.

    What I am sure about is that there was some sort of corrupting Abyss/Void around this City/Country and the MC fell down into the abyss and he came back changed
