jing qiu is the eldest sister of seven daughter that pretend to be a guy. i think everything gets wrapped up in the next few chapter. be prepared for an arc involving her father that will lead to out of nowhere super powers

Am I the only one who is livid at Jing qui being secretly a powerhouse? I don’t care about the how or the why, simply that I finally find a cultivator who gets a talented but otherwise normal wife without some Phoenix bloodline or powerful family or dies and has to be brought back. It was so refreshing to have a loving wife who could help him at the lower levels and loyally stand at his side for the rest without all this nonsense. I would have been extatic if she couldn’t reach world deity and passed naturally. It would have been great for XYs character, but really? She has been strong all this time totally ruining how she sacrifed her soul or that XY saved her at a cost to himself. Just... such a let down from a novel I otherwise couldn’t really find fault with besides some of the usual xianxia issues.

 

She wasn't strong when all of that happened because she only unlocked her memories upon reaching deity stage. The alternative to giving side characters random power ups is them pretty much never showing up again because they're too weak.

 

I know she didn’t have her powers then but it still ruins it for me. On re-read I’m just not going to enjoy it the same. Plus she wasn’t going anywhere, she was his wife. If she died from a lack of talent despite XYs efforts it would drive home the difficulty of cultivation in this world. I guess it’s just annoying his wife had to be so special. It’s like MCs can fall in love with anyone normal.

I like her better knowing she was/is talented enough to reach a high level. Every novel has wives that start off stronger than the mc but quickly sit on the side lines or are just there to be saved. At least she is now shown to have the potential power to take care of herself.

Its basicly a way for here to keep up otherwise she wouldnt have ...And Honestly its better than her dieing and the Mc having to do everything to get her back to life cause a lot of people use that and its booring...

You feel like that, but how many can you actually name? I don't read much other than IET nowadays, so I definitely can't name more than a few

 

women are just there because someone has to worry for the mc when he does things above his capabilities in most novel. i myself want his son to have better potential then the father but look at them kids just trash if you ask me

 

Well in these novels everyone is trash except the mc. Bloodshed and the 3 ancestors are eventually going to turn into Xue Ying's lackey who feel compelled to address him in honorics, his kids will be forgotten and hundreds of chapters later get an honorary mention, and his wife will likely encounter a problem where only he can save her.

I'm hoping I'm wrong and we can get characters who grow along with the mc. It's sad that the pet sidekicks in stories like these have more growth than the mc's family and mentors.

 

Oh that would be every novel where the girl doesn't die. What happens is they discover a bloodline, past memories, or high level family and instant powerup. They do that even when the character is already said to be talented. Basically any novel where the mc's waifu gets stronger on wuxiaworld or gravitytales.

 

That's literally what we're not talking about. We're talking about novels where the MC spends the entire story (or at least the last arc) trying to revive the heroine. I only know of

the ultimate scheming system mc wants to revive a random girl he meets at the beginning of the novel and form the looks of it that the plot because to revive her he has to destroy ever empire he goes to. but don't forget the many amnesia wife tropes out there that's basically deed
