Yes and no. I understand it like this. Mother is a dryad Dryad is a race that once in love "take root" and became unable to leave their partner after. In the worst cases, they can be abused for life. My point is, "taking root" is an act very important for Dryad. Also, country A is more knowledgeable than country B about races and stuff in general. That mean the contract probably didn't have any specific details about taking root for the mother. Mother marry father but didn't like him or wasn't confidante enough to take root with him. She still needs to produce an heir for the contract between countries. Then she used a gray area. She produces a clone of herself with the blood of her husband. His DNA is more or less in the child, so it's technically his son too. If she became more at ease with him, she intends to take root with him, but he decides instead to take another wife, have another son and treat her badly. So she decided to leave him.
Who are the girl's in Ain's harem? I know of Claune and Chris. Are there any more? And does he progress with them later? In the newest volume covers he and Claune look grown up. Are they married yet?
"She produces a clone of herself with the blood of her husband. His DNA is more or less in the child, so it's technically his son too." are you reading LN or WN version? because the manga is... Spoiler: manga if image doesnt shows,"To put it simply, Ain, you were made out of only olivia... or more precisely, you were made from a part of her stump-Nya." source - Manga chapter 6 Spoiler: reddit user that read ahead of WN Its kinda complicated but do you remember how Ain was created from her through a part of her? Well it turns out that process was for dryads who are unable to find a mate. They would give birth to the perfect mate themselves. In fact it was hinted in the early manga chapters how she gave birth to Ain as a virgin. Also Ain as the story progressed stopped seeing her as mom and more as like an older relative and Mom in turn was sort of pseudo flirty with Ain because of that. compound that with later events when Ain became the World Tree itself and him actually being a native of that world.
