What is the most impressive martial arts style that you've read in a light novel? Not op ones, where magic and superpowers get involved, but ones where techniques can be done by normal people who worked hard enough or people with slightly enhanced strength, like using optical illusions, heightened reaction time, muscle stimulation, or pressure points. If you can, try and explain the works behind it.

    Thanks!

LMS Weed and Geomchis are a bit OP, and the descriptions aren't overly complicated or brushed off. It's written in a way that your imagination supplements the lack of details.

Mushoku Tensei styles of swordsmanship were fine, although the details were meh. I like the three styles, and I like how our MC isn't a Badass in EVERYTHING.

Although its a bit over the top of normal, It would have to be the prologue of the nine cauldrons for me. Between just the basic combat, or the yoga and various styles employed it was not only somewhat realistic, but extremely believable.

There is one from A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality that may intrigue you. The martial arts the mc found could not be done by those who followed the traditional Qi cultivation of martial artists and it focused entirely on a person's understanding of the environment and situation, along with the timing. What made it interesting is the backstory and creation, rather than the use (as it kind of gets negated by everything else).

So the premise of the art is that an older expert lost his cultivation due to injury and tried to find a way to still be able to fight without it. So he combined hundreds of martial arts and created his own style to use techniques appropriate to any occasion. It ended up filling like 60 manuals and no one wanted to learn it. Kind of ridiculous, but thought it'd be up your alley.

Yep not the most awe inspiring sword art but it's definitely the most vicious one , at least it's the one i would fear the most .

does manga count? HSDK. most of the stuff in that series is based on real martial arts. and is at least close to what is possible.

You know that's not really how real tajiquan works or looks, right?

If you count manga as well, then perhaps Holyland? I think it strikes a decent balance between realistic and fictitious conceptual stuff.

If looking for something a bit more fantastical, I think Blood and Steel is really nice as well. Apparently it's based off a wuxia.

Little Li's Flying Dagger, throwing technique is legit and scary as fuck.
Blood and Steel (actually addresses the weakness of mainland kungfu, even if it's theoretical/hypothetical)
Some novel about the beggar sect (can't remember the name atm), staff and spear techniques that were logical and obviously influenced by both western and eastern style of using the spear, shit that you can't do in formation that you can do individually, why a single sword/dao is a useless weapon compare to other arms (leg and ankle strikes by spears are fucking vicious and next to impossible to block with a sword).
