Just out of curiosity, what is wrong with character flaws pushing the story? Isn't that the same for real life? Many of our conflicts in life are a result of our flaws. If we did not have flaws, our lives would be like vanilla.

There is nothing lazy about having character flaws. What is lazy writing is not progressing character flaws and only using character flaws when it is convenient while forgetting they exist every other time.

Aka, a character flaws should be consistent, not whenever the author tries to push the plot. On top of that, like all humans, we develop mechanisms to hide our flaws or try to address them as a result of experience.

While i could generally agree with this, it's lacking detail. Perhaps instead of 'lacking most of the 7 sins', better wording would be 'character who clearly displays at least one of the 7 sins'.

    +1 to this.
