I'm looking for Chinese fantasy novels where the mc is in the military and tries to climb the rank, with lots of schemes and conspiracies, intrigue, and strategic stuff. Mc could be a male or female.
For a Prosperous World The protagonist starts off as a soldier in the Qin army right before the Battle of Changping. It's not a purely military novel so it's heavier on the intrigue and plots side but it still has a fair bit of tactics and strategy as well. In general though, I like this kind of book quite a bit, but they tend to be better the less fantasy they contain. That way, the story is more focused on the military aspects. The fantasy parts just don't add all that much to this kind of book so the good ones tend to not bother with them.
