There was novel about a guy that picked some kind of item - which was somethign where he was trained by a guy named skeleton (?), later he went into academy where he was in military and physics departments (i think he was forced to attend physics one since he was picked up as kid by some guy that was teaching him a lot about this topic), also there were mecha and some kind of virtual fighting game where mc went anonymously.
