So, i have been struggling with depression since high school, at first it's just mild depression and didn't affect my life so just shrugged it off. up until last year my depression got worse it affect my research to graduate from my universities and my social life in bad way. the worst parts is i have thoughts to suicide almost everyday, i still can control it for now but i cant know how long before i give up.
because of that i in few days planned to meet psychiatrist to get treatment for my depression.

is anyone here have experience or have about mental illness share your experience here...

sorry if my writing kinda strange/bad, i rarely write and english is not my 1st language.

Everyone once thought of suicide ^^
The only way to get better is to understand by yourself how to go over it ^^

Try to find something that keeps your mind away from Suicide.
Mine would be novels and Anime. Helped quite a bit, to be honest

Do what you enjoy the most and forget about anything else... its a bad solution but hey, its better than suicide. After youre dead you cant enjoy any of these things anymore..

You can search for "hobbies" that you enjoy to forget about everything, but if you go deep into it you can get other problems like evassion of reality and that stuff
A real solution would be to search a goal in life, i mean seach for something and try to do your best no matters what happens, keep trying until you achieve it.
Find whats making you depressed and try to search for solutions, need to know what kind of problem you have....
Its the hard way but its the real soluttion
If you go into drugs and videogames even anime or novels, can make things worse

I had almost the same experience as with u, i just didnt go to college. After high school i was depressed, so i asked my friends who went through depression with how they dealt with it. They told me a calm and relaxing hobby would help me with my depression...like yoga...i hate yoga...but after that i found 2 hobbies, 1 was relaxing while the other was not so much. First hobby was reading and that led me to novels and this site. The other was gaming which was time consuming for me which made me think less about my depression. But after that i went into my "i dont give a fuck" mode, dont know if that was good or not tho.

A psychiatrist really helps, but she/he needs to know their shit so that it works, and you have to be really open to it so that it works a lot.

I have been going to one for emotional stability, anger issues, sadnes, lack of sleep or concentration, it helps with many things not only crazy people!

Well good luck hope you get better!

I can't get my head around depression it supposedly makes people sad and give up a lot but isn't it just being detirmend also I'm not sure about this advice but I'd say you should not think of anything about anything unless you making fun of it try that instead of thinking whether the person who walked inro the lamp post is all right just laugh

For a while I got tired of living. Been depressed for the last 4 years. Now my depression has morphed into a lack of ambition and motivation. I am just kinda existing, not living.

    Hmm, interesting subject...

There is prob a reason/s to your depressions, people have different tresholds when in comes to coping with the failures in their lives. I had some problems with shame at school, and when i broke off with a girl. What i ve learned was how to detach myself from negative emotions that were running in my head.

Depending on your beliefs, there are different ways of coping. buddhist would tell you to meditate on your breath, trying to refocus your thoughts on material stuff that is happening in your body, such as breath, to block out the immaterial stuff such as thoughts and feelings. In xianxia we call that cultivation. I myself find it useful to meditate from time to time, while listening to some dharma talks. One of the most prominent one in english is by ajahn brahm. Hes the student of ajahn chah, one of the best Budhist in Thailand. If you have a problem, you can look around in his website and im sure he prob has a talk or to to cope with your problems. Or you can listen to Pastor Anthony De Mello. (Its interesting to see things from his point of view, coz he thinks Catholics and Christians have the the wrong perspective and understanding onJesus )

Christians cope by believing Jesus. If you have read about his death, the event was the most gruesome stuff that could happen to a person. In that sense, whatever problem you are facing right now, either bodily harm, mental abuse, social prosecution, betrayal... jesus experienced them all. He knew beforehand whatever was going to happen to him, with the thought that by inflicting those pains on Himself, he could show other people that he too symphatize with our problems and does not run away from it. Throughout his life, he has shown people how to live, and by his death and ressurection, hes telling people to believe him despite all of your problems, and take him as an example on how to cope with your life problems.

Then again, what you have could be from hormons that is caused by the wrong intakes of food or unhealthy habbits like not doing physical activities at all.

I believe my energy can effect my body. If i have destructive thoughts such as negative believes or stress inflicted by other people, my body can melt down and get sick. My body can effect my mind too. If i eat too much sugar, i can get sleepy, and too much of it can inflict diabetes, ruins my hormone and mess around with my thinking process.

So the key to health for me is to have the right set of mind and beliefs, eat right and exercise. Sounds very simple, but to get to that point yourself, you need to experience it. To have someone say that to you without ever experiencing the turmoil in your own life is useless.

These are my thoughts and how to handle the depressions that i had long ago. I still have a few now and then, but these things always help me. I hope it helps u too.

Whatever you do dont try to ignore it. I did and I ended up messed up for awgile I was having fequent full blown panic attacks the first time it happened I had to call an ambulance because I tnought I was having a heart attack then had a full breakdown woudnt leave the house couldnt sleep I would stay awake litterally a few days until my body forced me to sleep. I went to the doctor found out I had severe depression and anxiety I got the medicine I needed it was rough at first the side effects are horrible until your body gets use to the drug which takes at least a month but its worth it in the end

Well, I guess just do it.
Whatever the result (as long as it is acceptable), just do it. Get yourself out of that condition (being pursued by academic obligation and other things that weighing you).

Sometimes it just helps to talk to someone I currently have mild? depression and anxiety issues, but it helped to figure out what was causing it and trying to solve the problems from there
drowning in anime and novels might be a good help until you get to professional care

i've been through something similar, so all I can suggest is a change of environment, action, routine ... anything. Don't spend all day in bed if you can, and if possible talk to your teachers and such so that you can have some time off where you can get everything off your mind to stop caring and worrying and to simply act which is hard with depression cause thoughts can consume (im just talking abt what helped me, but we each have our different problems, so if it helps, it helps, if it doesn't, I hope the best for you).
