Merge Shounen-ai and Yaoi into Boys Love (Shoujo-ai and Yuri to Girls Love)

    I notice a lot of novels have both the shounen-ai and yaoi tag as genres. While it's obvious for manga, the line is less obvious for novels.

    I propose we just merge the two genres into "Boys Love" and anything that has sexual content gets tagged with R-18, or Adult as necessary. Thoughts?

    - This proposal will also apply to shoujo-ai/yuri -> girls love

    I also introduce the motion to unite "lolicon" and "shotacon" genre into the "pedo" genre

    Maybe i'm mistaken but i always thought that:
    shounen ai are for shounen
    yaoi for seinen
    shoujo ai for shoujo
    yuri for josei

    Or something along theses lines but since i never read them i have no idea if it's like that.

    you cant just change the original genre as you wish manga reader will be confused what the.... is girl love and boy love why not just call it gay love and lesbian love

    Disagree... kinda. Although they’re both BL or GL, there is a certain “feel” that differ. Shounen-ai/shoujo-ai typically has a much more milder and a lot of times more innocent vibe. Yaoi/Yuri a more mature and are more targeted to older readers. However, not all Yaoi or Yuri is mature/adult or R-18. The vibe is different and for older. Maybe you could say R-15. They are both BL/GL but aren’t exactly the same. I think we do need a tag like Boy Love and Girl Love but shounen-ai/shoujo-ai and yaoi/yuri both have their own purpose and meaning.

    the tags in question are more or less standard tags. By editing them this way, the general user essentially loses a link between the novel and the source/adaptation.
