NU has little merman novels. theres one story on wattpad where the mc becomes a merman(?) but I don't remember the title. I only remember that the ML is called silas and MC is a system
Weeelll.... the Kingdom Hearts fandom has a few different merman fics on AO3. I also remember reading a couple Supernatural ones around ten years ago. I wrote a pseudo merman chapter for one of my stories, but it was part of a series, and you might be confused if you read just that one chapter. Although I suppose if you knew nothing about Kingdom Hearts, it wouldn’t make much difference? Yeah same here but this genre seems really scarce. I have 'Desharow Merman' (https://www.novelupdates.com/series/desharow-merman/) here on my bookshelf waiting till it gets more chapters before I start reading. It seems like a dark merman novel. Really wishing for more merman danmei or yaoi

So he gave up and then bam! MC came finally realized that he loves ML and came back, and i was like "bro ML if i were you i'd dump that guy", but ML still care for MC and he accept him back -_- tho it traumatized him for a while haha. The second half of the story is quite fluffy, they have kids and the side couple too, yeah typical bl. It's an okay read but if you hate annoying MC then don't read this
The Wattpad one that was mentioned is called “It’s a Wonderful Life” by FantasyDeath and it’s really good. QT and MC is a system who is very disdainful of his hosts and especially fond of killing. High quality writing. Regular slow updates. Mermaid is just one arc and is complete.

Interactions between MC and ML are pretty cute, though the setting of the novel is a bit dark. 100% recommend.
I was going to mention that too haha~ @WagKalimutan as far as I know, it's the 2nd or 3rd arc (can't remember the exact chapters though). Spoiler, though not really plot wise Spoiler: But rather about the amount of *action* this is still more towards the beginning of the novel, so the leads haven't gotten intimate yet. It's light BL, nothing more than kissing going on. Also, in case you're purely looking for merman stuff, I wouldn't say this arc is a good arc to read on its own separate from the rest of the novel. It doesn't make much sense on its own
If you find some I’ll be camping because with was reading a MTLnovel bl about I think a panda and a general and they accidentally spliced in a merman dog blood entertainment story possibly in the interstellar(advanced medicine that can relieve terrible burns back to normal level) with the first twelve chapters or so, but unfortunately this story didn’t feel the need to add its tittle into every chapter incase of copy/pasting third parties but basically the story starts out with the exposition of how our MC ended up in the Ocean acting out survivor eating raw fish and battling octopi/squid; basically he grew up in an orphanage raising a younger white eyed wolf who was jealous and wanted everything he had and the MC even gave his amazing wealthy loving prospective adoptive family over to this white eyed wolf who eventually got sent back and then got adopted by the MC who was a little older working hard to support him and his dream to be a music star, this younger brother then stole MC’s boyfriend and then orchestrated a fire and then the boyfriend convinced MC to go in and save the white eyed wolf who was lying in wait to attack the MC and then leave him to maybe die but certainly have his superior looks destroyed as well as his vocal cords, then he made it out that the MC was fighting with him after discovering the affair, but that doesn’t matter, what matters is the the little home-wrecker then delayed treatment and kept refusing treatment from the doctors until literally the soonest moment when his vocal cords wouldn’t be salvageable as a professional singer(he had the voice of a siren!) it was actually comical and funny how the younger brother as the only next of kin abused his power to hysterically crying and rejecting treatment saying WAIT!! literally up until the minute after the doctors said we won’t be able to repair his vocal cord to the previous condition, anyways their medical technology was basically able to make him look like he’d never been a burn victim but his voice could no longer make it in the music world, the two people he loved most betrayed him and then conspired to take away his greatest passion and then on top of that steal the song he’d worked so hard on making for his debut ! But they made sure he’d almost never be able to prove it as he watched from his hospital bed as his younger brother accepted the newcomer of the year award for the MC’s song ! Anyways then after he get out he’s determined to continue making even better music and surpassing his brother seeing how he’d manage with out him to steal from (probably just mooching of the success to get access to the best in the business and just coast after getting big and signing a contract to a big label, being showered with resources after winning such accolades) anyways so he’s determined to not give up and get his gentleman’s revenge ! When he’s picked up, roughed up and tossed into the ocean to die.... yeah not exactly letting dead dogs lie is it... guess they had to be really sure the MC couldn’t come back to haunt them ! anyways then the MC spends the next free days figuring out his new fish body with sharp claws and teeth capable of ripping through the tough fish scales, and then he decides to follow a sea turtle to find a reef or some other landmarks before he goes crazy, only he get ambushed by an octopus or squid either way he battles it out with our tentacled friend and then that it no more spliced chapter about his journey back to shore... no more exploring his weird new mermaid abilities... ♂️ And the trail basically ran cold because I couldn’t find the accidental chapters again later so I guess they fixed it, and lord knows if I screen capped it but if I did good luck with my lousy system I can barely load the weather let alone photos but I remember they had the same protagonists name and even maybe one or two of the other characters and that’s why it made sense there could be a mix-up with this kind of thing
