Discussion Metal Gear Survive - Beta + Release Date + Single Player Gameplay

Oh look story campaign, beta and release date all in one~

Pros :

• The game looks great.
• A better engine to play on compared to other Survival games in the market (I'm looking at you Early Access Games)
• Revamped Climbing (Climbing Horizontally like a spider!)
• A very very large map to explore and look for every nook and canny. (They took a page from Breath of the Wild rofl)
• The 4player Coop looks fun as hell.
• Improved Melee Weapons (Compared to MGS5's Raiden Sword D; )
• A lot of things to level!
• Its Metal Gear themed Zombie Survival Shooter/Meleefest and its going to be fun.

Cons :

• Its a metal gear game. (But they said it was a spinoff.
• The story MIGHT suck. Although you can see where its coming from.
• No Hideo Kojima
• Inevitable Paywalls. (Microtransactions are fine, but pls no paywalls, pls learn from EA's fuckup.)
• Always Online (When the game inevitable dies, you wont be able to play it any longer

Anyways, Beta is on the 14th of January, while full game release is on the 20th of February.

God i want my hands on it now, i'm a sucker for these kinds of games + its metal gear.

from the distinct amount of zombies that aren't suppose to be there + a bunch of fkers who you never knew existed desu

 

Looks cool as a game, since its mg u can just ignore story all together. Also why does there always seem to have a black child in these games?

Game looks good.. atleast..
But I miss the character snake and his story..
Feels wrong looking at some random guy fighting zombies with red flashlights for heads. . (Those mobs act like one)
And I get why konami titled it metal gear survive tho..
Cause the game decides wether the metal gear series will survive or will it go down to the abyss... deleted as a series. Lol

EA went overboard with mtx, not paywall.

 

Metal Gear with Zombies isn't metal gear. I don't expect tactical realism. That gets boring too (I mean you Arma3), by the same token, not shooting at things that look like people takes the edge out of the game. It's what screwed up all the Crysis games, they were great till the aliens showed up. I might still try it, I'm a sucker for Metal Gear, even the sucky stuff but, I expect to be disappointed.

 

Metal Gear without.. a discourse of nuclear weapons, is definitely not METAL GEAR.

I cannot look at this game, skinned / reskinned of METAL GEAR, and say "this is Metal Gear". Whether it has or doesn't have Hideo Kojima, we'll see who the new director is and what direction it'll bring. (Although I'm making guesses that they're milking and butchering the franchise like how EA did to Westwood Studio's Command & Conquer series, even if they had Joseph D Kucan in the later 'episodes').

IT does look like an improved Fox Engine. (not improvised). Still, I'm not going to "anticipate" for the game.

If you get past the reskin issues, it can stand on its own because Fox Engine is a fucking mighty tool.

 

I agree. Fox Engine is incredible. If you look at the game in itself as a "zombie shooter", yeap. I can see that it has potential. Just that from a "Metal Gear franchise fan", it doesn't fly with me. But if you look at what's already available, at its own merit, yeah.

 

Well, i'm expecting XOF to just casually drop in mid-game and we can go on a killing spree

The video had a lot of omnious hints. I wonder what the voice actors felt as they recorded their parts. LOL

 

They reused areas, but they're all in weird places. its a bigger map since there's this giant fog wall that is poisonous spread across the entire playable singleplayer map. Its in a single-player commentary video, showing off crafting and basebuilding and a few other simple things.

 

if the husk shown in MGS V is any indicator of those who made it back, it a rather sad thing.
i see the video, only the protagonist going alone without any companion is lonely,
i mean we will eventually rescue some personal but all those stay in the base and producing while the MC going out alone while all their safety is on the line?,
no companion system like d-dog, horse?
i would wait to see the review first before deciding to buy this game
