Monster Tamers


A Discord, dice-rolling card adventure game inspired by Pokemon and Yugioh.

BRIEF HISTORY:
In the Monster Worlds of the Monster Universe, only the residents of this world - Elysia - focused on the taming of defeated monsters rather than increasing their personal strengths. In ages past, monsters appeared out of nowhere, roaming wildly and freely about the earth. They defeated and killed all hyumans that they could find, nearly driving the hyuman race to extinction. In a desperate, collaborated effort, the highly respected priestess summoned the Hero. The Hero - a 'human' from another world - was a fan of games 'Pokemon' and 'Yugioh' and had asked the Goddess of Creation to gift him the ability to capture and tame monsters into the forms of Monster Cards.

As the Hero amassed his harem and defeated many monsters and monster factions, he suddenly vanished. Though the hyumans lost there support, they were able to carry on as the Hero's descendants were able to use the same ability as the Hero. Hundreds of years later, the war between the monsters and the Monster Tamers arrived at a stalemate until one day, a group of adventurous young Monster Tamers decided to group together and defeat the monster plague once and for all.

GAMEPLAY:
Each Player starts off as Level 1 and with each level up, the Player will be allowed to carry another Monster Card. The maximum Cards a Player can carry is six. Naturally, when the Player has enough money, they can also store Cards once they buy an 'Inventory'. When taming monsters, if a Player reaches his or her card limit, he or she must destroy one Card to make room for any further taming. Or, the Player can destroy the new Card. Players must roll 1d10 (9-10 is successful taming: can temporarily increase chances with talismans).

Players gain EXP from winning battles and money from completing jobs. EXP is used to level up the Player but not the Monster. Money is used to buy potions and other items to help during battle and traveling. Players cannot use their Monsters while traveling.

Traveling from one square of a map to another square generally takes about two days. There will be multiple parts of a map as well as multiple maps to make up a world map. Players will start out in the Forests of Wanderlust map. Players form parties of 3-4 and decide on where their groups go. Their groups will be denoted with different symbols on the map.

Some monsters have 'Evolvable %'. What this means is that these monsters are capable of evolving into stronger and better monsters. Each time the monsters defeat their enemies, they increase their Evolvable % by 1. That's why, the higher starting Evolvable %, the better.

COMBAT:
Before combat, Players and enemies roll 1d20 for initiative. Each Monster has a minimum of two skills they can use during combat. The higher tier a monster is, the more skills the monster can use. There are three tiers – Normal, Elite, General. Then, there are monsters at a “Boss” tier that cannot be tamed.

During a combat turn, there is a potential attack and potential defend scenario. If an enemy monster attacks a Player’s monster, the Player’s monster can react to the attack with a defensive skill. Naturally, when a Player’s monster attacks the enemy monster, the enemy monster will have the chance to react with a defensive skill.

At the end of battle, the Player who kills the enemy has a chance of taming. If he or she fails, then the others have chances of taming. As to who goes first, that will be based on damage done order.

LOCATIONS:
The starting location is in a small village in the Forests of Wanderlust known as Pallet Village. As more locations are unlocked through visits, new starting monsters in addition to old starting monsters are available for new Players who start the game when the progression are at those locations.
