At one point in my life, I was part of an exercise in which there were 4 of us and each drew one panel of a comic strip...
rotate and drawn the second, again and again,

ended up with 4 comic strips...
none of us could draw every well,
and some of our more vulgar participants,
and my own love of bad puns
    was reveal to the group...
    ...
it was a good exercise tho

And probably a lot of fun. Those group creative projects are the best.

Yeah.... but no matter how old we were or the gender distribution...
after 3 to 4 hours... sometimes gets a bit... R18...
or just that I'd think "That is amazingly innovative, smart use of plots and composition... but is sooooo... I can never show anyone this because of that one panel... "

    So much regret...

but trying to write you way out of restrictive scenarios are good exercises

@yuzuki since we are in nuf and it happens in a lot of novels - how about the theme: what happens after you die. it has to be some other thing than getting reincarnated or sent to another world.

for example: after you die, you don't really die- you just have to live in another place and not talk to anyone that knew you before your "death". a good conflict would be a heartbroken boyfriend, who suddenly finds his "dead" loved one, in another city.

the short story would be made from the boyfriends pov, as he mourns for his love, and then the shock of finding her alive, until the girl admits that it is indeed her. from there the girl tries to explain that when she "died", she had to let go of all the ties that bound her and "live a new life".

I think we'll wait another day for a few more writing prompt ideas, and then we can do a quick straw poll to vote for November's official topic.

The 15th is the monthly deadline for your short story, so the first one should be posted/linked here by November 15th. The deadline for future months/topics would be December 15th, January 15th, etc. If you're busy or don't like the topic, feel free to skip out on any month.

I think there have been two short story topic suggestions so far (if I missed any, sorry!):
If you have any more good ideas, let me know, and I'll put up a straw poll tomorrow.

There will only be one official topic (so one SS) -- we're voting on what it will be tomorrow though.

And it should be fine to post it here.

We could start of with a page introducing a MC and then right a few keywords for the next page. Then someone continues the story by writing a page with those keywords and then write some keywords for the next page.

i is in, you could do something like different genre each week or something more creative such as it has to have requirements and different points of inspiration like maybe for one story there has to be a fruit god or something.

I want to join in too. So can anyone clarify? When we have a prompt, do we post a link in the thread to it like google docs or post it straight into the thread?

How about we take it slow at first, at least until everyone gets a feel for this, and start off with a genera or theme. Then we can go from there.

Gotta start with some jumping off point. Letting everyone just write whatever they want seems too.. loose.

How many words do we have to write? It'll be easier to plan if we've got a range, say, 500 - 1000. >w<

I think the OP mentioned 500-7500 words. That's a pretty loose number, so maybe a second poll for word count? Or keep the limit wide so people are free to write however short of long they want.
