(Monthly) Short Story Writing Prompts

If my avatar got turned into a character for a story, it'd turn R18 real fast...

 

I would consider writing for this but im not interested in collaboration. I don't think there is an issue with having a broad word limit but I do think that people would have difficulty writing something descriptive in < 1000 words. Improving accessibility to as many people as possible through a low word count is probably the priority though.

There are some places that you could borrow writing prompts from. r/writingprompts is one, and there's even a few threads on the forum like create a novel and judging by the title. That is if a new one can't be agreed on. I think many people wont bother to write if the prompt is poor though.

I'm interested, but how will the mechanics behind this work? It would also be interesting if the winner gets to choose the next writing subject. I also think we should have a blank thread where it isn't cluttered by meaningless posts, but instead the information as well as that week's/month topic.

Just look at that one parth x orc x tentacle scene i made some time ago. if i had fre rein to make a MCbased off of me, with my talents and stwisted, perverse mind...well, i think my story would get too "H" and "NSFW"

 

I'd like to join. For a prompt idea, what if Qi became poisonous. The higher tier cultivators wouldn't be able to expel all the Qi they had before they died, but some of the lower tier ones that didn't have as much qi circulation would be able to release it, however they would probably still keep their body enhancing that wasn't directly supported by the qi.

 

So you mean a thread that is locked by @Nom de Plume, and can only have her post in it?

 

It could be like each chapter is a short story collected together as an anthology?

 

No need for that, just need the consensus between everyone participating to not post there so that it's not cluttered.

5. Interpretations
Slap a fantasy looking image on the thread and tell people to write a story inspired by it. I just hosted a contest over on RRL based on this and it went quite well.

6. Dungeon: Made a story that revolve around a dungeon (or two). Here's my Original Idea( do not steal) as a example:
I , Andy Fantasy, have decided to write a novel. But somehow I have to take it back from a dungeon...

Hi, it's me, your sweet and lovable creature Andy Fantasy.

...Oh wait, Author still hasn't write it yet.

Oh well, sooner or later.

So, after the Author write (or directed?) our many-flavored love story...Guess what? I decided to write one too!

But, just after a first few paragraph typed on the computer, suddenly me from the future came to tell me about a catastrophe!

Turn out, my writing is so great, it end up destroyed the entire world with just a few page (Ain't I so awesome?). And so, in order too prevent the destruction of the Multiverse (Aww, just that?) with it complete opening: Me, our family consist of my husband, 2 children (1 boy and girl) (that's in our later story), our dog and our maid and the Odd-friend must travel deep into the dungeon, suddenly create to protect the book, in order to destroy it once and for all (unfortunately).

Me 1: But I haven't even written the book yet...

Me 2: Don't worry, I will tell it along the way! So do you come with me?

Me 1: Do I !

Sidenote: Wait, why don't you just prevent the book from ever written in the first place?
