(Monthly) Short Story Writing Prompts

Then a post of lazy lazy lazy lazy copy paste of the word lazy. Ugh this creativity is too tiring.

There is literally one day left, we change the theme every 15th day.

Uhn... I'll try looking around the thread tomorrow to see if I can find past suggestions?

Anyone has any ideas? I can add those...

 

Write a story about finding a dead body.
E.g. You're taking a hike, then you stray off the main path to take a piss. Right behind the bush, you find a dead body.

I'm completely clueless about making prompts, so I just took prompts I found from a few comments on the thread... I think none of them were used before? If they were, somebody please tell me! >.<
... I may have altered them a bit for the sake of making them a bit more broad.

I have no idea how to use Strawpoll btw, so I'm making the poll on the first post of the submission thread, please vote there! ^^)/

  • You were taking a stroll on the road and suddenly strayed off for some reason, behind a bush you found...
• Riding in a Fairy Tale
  • We always had heard of the famous bedtime stories from childhood, but.... What if you become a character of the very same story?! Maybe you will find a different truth to it?
• I am the Demon, so why did I become the Saint?
  • Once you were the Demon King (or Queen), feared by all, ruler of darkness... One day though, you woke up as a saint, what happened!?
• Running away from the heroes
  • Heroes are always on your toll somehow, but why can't they just leave you in peace?

"Running from the heroes" sounds very fun and exciting. I would love to write this

I thought of saying that you did nothing wrong, that you were just a kind demon king and they just happen to want to run after you or something, but... Leaving it generic seemed more fun, more room for people to write about~

For what if you become a character of the very same story? Maybe you will find a different truth to it? Does that mean we don't change anything about the actual story, but instead write about how we feel in a certain characters position within an actual story after the story? Or is it a retelling of a story from your perspective as one of the charcters? I'm going to assume it is the last one.

 

And for the second prompt in this setting what is a "saint"? Like a good person, a divine being, or a person who worships divine beings?

 

You're pretty open to how you'll approach it on both cases~

For the first prompt, I was thinking more of the latter one, but the first option you said also works~

For the second prompt, I think a Saint can be anything you want? As in... It can be a super powerful Holy Magic user, or a divine being, a good person, a very special priest... It's a pretty broad word, just use it in the way you think fits best~
