Lately i keep seeing more and more manga adaptation from novel and it keeps happening despite the already kinda big (for me) number of previous adaptations. It makes curious about multiple stuffs like how many companies exist out there that can pull off so many adaptations with monthly releases and at which year will readers will be when no more new novels will appear because every idea were over-used ?

Today i saw Jimina Ken Sei Wa Sore Demo Saikyoudesu / NU : The Simple-Looking Sword Saint is Nevertheless the Strongest
Damnit i really liked it and looks like the manga will exceed the translated novel at this rate if it got a decent translation group behind it, too bad... Kinda sad that the novel transl is dropped.
Other (not that) recent ones : Magi craft Meister / Piggy duke

I also got a question that maybe the most informed otakus can respond, which novel was the first ever JP light novel or web novel to ever get an adaptation ? The most old one i know is Maria miteru or Mushoku Tensei.

Do you think there are too many adaptations or you are just happy to have them ? I am kinda both, feeling conflicted.

if it's a JP light novel getting a manga adaption then there's some of even the older ones, you cold probs discover the old novels from before isekai was a thing have a few manga adaptions. which exactly? I've forgotten.

Imo, its a process. Not everyone have the money or ability to draw a manga, so they start with a novel, if the history is a sucess they can have the change of gaining a manga and if the manga is also a sucess the history can gain a anime and later maybe a movie. For me is a type of stair more than a parallel road.

I think the first LN to anime was legend of the galactic heroes.

The first really big one is slayers, which has a huge number of adaptations.

Never thought it was that old.

There're should be many ln manga adaptation before isekai even popular. I'm not paying attention to this, but there should be many.
    Like SAO maybe (?)

This trend already shows how desperate publishers are to discover new and popular properties. What this means is that any new property becomes ever more valuable, so they're incentivized to turning it into as many different media as possible. And so not only are marginal works being turned into anime and manga, there are often lots of different manga spinoffs for anything that seems popular.

I remember my first novel-based manga was Ghost Hunt, found it at local rental ~10 years ago...
and at that time I don't know that it was an adaptation lol...

I think novel-based manga has begun since Arslan Senki and Lodoss War...
and yeah it started since 90s, tough I think only the most popular one that got adapted into manga...
not like today's trend where most novel which got a little bit popular get adapted...
