Wow, I came here to share the same sentiment. I'm glad this one was the first reply. I couldn't count how many times I've seen this exact cliche unfolds. So now this 'situation' is one of my deal-breakers. Sayonara anime if you installed this to your plot. Another cliche is a tsundere who literally harmed his/her crush by just them merely breathing. I am looking at you Misato Tachibana.

People talking for half a minute while doing moves that suppose to take less than second. People walking in obliviously occupied bath by accident. Picking Devil King sword or some other artifact and using it will lead to no consequences to wielder. Traps everywhere. And I don't mean pitfalls. Cheats not tied to lore. Giving too much chances to your enemies. Worst of all is censorship. P.S. I actually like tsunderes. They are way better than "nice" Gold Diggers.
talk-no-jutsu during battle scenes. yes counselling and therapy are important, but please schedule appointments when you're not fighting to the death. and then villain immediately turns over a new leaf and become loyal nakama. i like a good bad-guy-to-comrade cliche, i really do, but it just makes the mc a mary sue.
Random guy suddenly goes on a killing spree. MC comes to the scene to stop the killer. Killer keeps attacking the MC so the MC is forced to fatally wound the Killer. Killer shouts "OMG, you are a murderer !!" before dying. Everyone now considers the MC as a murderer and/or the MC considers himself as a murderer.
I absolutely hate(despise) Tsunderes that resort to violence just because they can't honest with themselves. I also hate when an MC picks just a girl when he was making other girls fall for him(and the choosen one was too bothersome) or when it's left with an open ending.
It's rare its his fault and often clear it was an accident seen a to aru index clip where index an another girl sat in front of the door naked searching something online and when touma opened the door index bit him, so their stupidity is his fault?
violent tsundere is the worst tsundere is good, but violent is worst, like from zero no tsukaima. also "kyah" or lucky pervert scene...unecessary... im fine with fan service but not that annoying way
the MC dont kill female even though the female is reaaally hateful! but kill men when it is hateful. also when romance spoil all of it, the dissapointment
Definitely: Defeating insanely OP enemy with the power of friendship or love. Its super unrealistic and makes me drop the anime/manga in a flash.
Harem and annoying fanservice (I can tolerate the harem if it's well-done though but if it's instant love when it could actually be friendship? I'm out!)
Both characters that like each other but refuse to confess. Misunderstanding or lack of communications causing alot of trouble. Tsundere girls hitting guys just coz they're girls and they can hit guys but guys cant hit them back. Girl forgot to lock the door or bathing openly under river and then calling the guy the pervert for accidentally walking in on them. Useless wimpy protagonist that only knows how to keep crying but still have characters romantically interested in them. Characters that are super naïve and wont see fault in other people and believe everyone is a good person even though they keep getting stabbed in the back by them or almost got sabotaged by them. The dense protagonist that won't notice that the person they're closest to is actually in love with them despite so many outward expressions and so many actions (such as protecting them etc) and chasing other characters that clearly doesn't like them. Or crying why they're not in a romantic relationship with someone. Worst they got confessed by said person but brush it off as friendship. example: Oh that person likes me as a friend! Protagonist or characters that refused to fight girls even going as far as to be willing to get hurt by them or almost killed by them. Even when the girls is clearly stronger than them. Characters that protect children (those that have supernatural powers that can kill people) and keep saying they're innocent because they're kids.
I have a lot to complain about japanese anime. The beta crap is so disgusting that i have completely stopped watching anime for like so mnay years. The Gary stu mc in literally 99% anime is another extreme turn off. I dont know why people say Ultra ruthless mc and ultra nationalistic mc are unrealistic depictions of humans, maybe they do not read history or havent even heard about hitler or other historical figures like ying zheng, Nepolian, Caesar etc etc. At least to me these mc feel real even though they are detestable but jap beta type guy i have yet to found a single one. Honestly i havent seen anyone act like that in my life. They have zero self respect,gets trampled over by pantsu and cleavage, Spineless cowards, gets Frequently trashed by girls, Gary stu when theyactually have a chance. Its understandable to me why these CN mc act the way they do cause even in real life everything is based on power. Nuclear bomb is acting as a deterrance for now so its lose lose for everyone thats why humans have become very tame but for how long? Open your eyes, Look at the history, How many atrocities have been commited due to human greed? Might makes it right is not some barbaric philosophy it is the fundation of human society. Why do you not trash anyone whom you hate very deeply? Why do you not do illegal activities even if you can be rich really fast? Why do you fear the government? Answer is simple enough. And yea these Mcs are detestable and drunk on power but in no way as brainless/Unrealistic as jp beta mc.
