Only Zorian and Spear Resolve knew how this mental plane work, my guess it's not deep mind reading (because mind reading will trigger Zach) but kinda like mental illusion that affected minds in range, it's give realistic view that so convincing to victim.

 

That's what I think might happen.

But I also think it won't work. The contract has multiple fail safes, and what determines who needs to die and so on if from both Zach's side and the Angel's side.

 

Really tricky.
Zorian can in no way affect Zach when's it comes to Pans release. His contract is tied into the world so there is no way to fool that.

It seems the only chance for success is if Zorian and Zach prevent the release and the Zorian uses this ability to immediately befuddle Zach until the contract fully dissipates. Its have to be done with Zach realizing it has been done too. But with his awareness, knowledge of the contract and it terms... I dont see him being fooled. He knows he is dead cause so many people know of the loop. To fool him for any amount of time with an illusory world seems far fetched given his knowledge on the situation.

I would rather see Zorians ability to be used upon Qi as a way to bypass his instant mental defence of sending his soul back to his phylactery. Use this as a way to immediately unbalance the war in their favor and maybe even use it upon jornak to completely crumble his lose lose schemes.
I say this but I do think it will be used upon Zach to work around the contract, I am just unsure of how as of yet.

 

Just make Zach think that he failed a bit, and that the angels commenced Engame.

 

Befuddle zach into thinking the current date is less than it actually is, and as such think he still has time?

Then he would wonder why he isnt dead yet from the contract or Angel's and realize it must not be real.

Could work. Have to mess with his mind beyond just placing him in an illusion though. I imagine Zach is pretty keen on the countdown to doomsday.

I gotta say. I really really liked this chapter.
Sure it did not have any action but you can just feel the tension building as we get towards the end now.

It was really nice to actually see somebody react so poorly when Zorian begins sharing secrets with them. We have had, amazement and awe. Disbelief and resentment. But we haven't seen someone react in the same way Damien did in this chapter. He was frantic trying to get answers and regain some semblance of control. I really enjoyed that part.

Then we got the recruitment of the Sulothrim and the interaction with Rea which has now set the tone for the next chapter. The Final moves of preparation are being finished with. Now there is only to see who was more prepared. I LOVE it.

PLUS last chapter we got a substantial part of the chapter to show exactly how proficient Zorian has become with his Golemancy Skills and General Artificing and his incredible level of control with his Shaping skills. I thought that was all we were going to get for building up Zorians expertise before the fight but then Nobody103 goes and blows it out of the water by upgrading Zorians Telepathic Relays so his effective range for Mind Magic is the entire City of Cyoria... Add that to what has been hinted at his capabilities for the upcoming fight...

Zorian classmate, heir to House of Aope, she and Zorian had session of mind magic practice, one those session is in chapter 25.

Anyways, on the illusionary world thing; Zorian would probably have to get the timing just right, tbh. imo, he'd have to do it the day of the confrontation, or nearly after they won, and trap Zach in it for a day.

So in my love of this novel i have been re-reading it.
From Chapter 60-99, then from Chapter 1-60.

Initially i just wanted to find the Chapter in which Zorian met with Damien in the Timeloop and revealed everything to him so i could compare it to his interaction with Damien in Ch.99. But this is just so good i found myself just re-reading the whole thing from the first chapter i checked even though it wasn't the correct chapter... had to wait a bit to catch up to it.

All in all.
DAMN I LOVE THIS BOOK.

Domagoj could charge 200$ to buy this once it is completed and i would pay it in a heartbeat. It is a steal for something of this length with such a fantastic quality.
I've said before that it is a travesty that this isn't on the international radar, winning awards for best book of the year (or decade, fight me).
All this just gets even more reinforced as i am going over it all again.

TLDR; Re-read this, it's still that good.
