Everytime that I recommend some movies to my friends, they always say that it's better in the books. I'm confused.

Well, books give more details than movies. Like in anime, you would always recommended peeps to read the manga/LN...

It’s more or less how everyone will say “The manga was better” or whatever. People will always defend the source material. For movies and books, i’m more of the ‘The movie and book both have their own advantages so it’s better not to compare them’.

movie, if you just wanna what that story is about

I think it’s kinda pointless to ask which is better towards a group of ppl who read alot

    Books.
Books are always better than the movie.
I mean, put it this way, the movie came from the books.
The books have all the information, all the details, while all the movie does it mess things up, cut out scenes, or completely change what the book is about...

Book is better, yeah, but you can't entertain a group with it. Just tell your friend he's an idiot and this is a bonding thing. He might enjoy the different take down the written path, or complain about it when all is said and done.

My opinion is book for those reasons:
    1. Book have more details.
    2. In a book things like timeframe, director, actors and budget doesn't matter and so have better quality.
    3. In books it show characters personalities and thoughts.
    4. And final reason is books normally have an ending but in movies it have a half ads ending or don't have one. (look at all of those unfnished movies.)

i wrote a paper on the transition of books into movies and how it almost always is a pale imitation, only recently withe the lord of the rings, game of thrones ,american gods and a couple more have movies and tv shows based on books have become a quality experience.
the bonus of books is that they negate budget&technology constrainsts have room for in depth character development.
the strength of movies and tv is the audio visual experiance.

what causes books to rise up and become an unforgettable experience is the readers imagination and personal interpretation and immersion+ suspension of disbelief. the conection you can have with a character in a book that you spend so many hours reading will usually trump a tv show 40 min long or an 1.5-3 hour movie during which you are eating popcorn or checking you phone or whatever...

just read coiling dragon, tales of demons and gods novel first. then try the manga.
you will then understand why books are better.

Well....I would say - neither is better than the other.
When I go online, everyone around me says novels and mangas are miles better than their animated counterparts. Cuz,"They have a better story, better characters etc etc."
While whenever my friend recommends me an anime and I, rather smugly, say that I have already read it, he sighs..."Yet another waste. Why do you even read? What joy do you find in still pictures. No colours and no sound! Eww.." Well, he is not really wrong.
And I do get his point of view. Whenever I try to read the manga counterpart of anime I have already seen, I start feeling bored really soon.
But on the contrary, if I watch the anime counterpart of a manga I have already read: I find the animation really childish, lacklustre, and detail-less. Plus the slow pace of the anime - unbearable.
Imo ..both are good in their own sense. There is certainly no better.

    P.s same goes for movie/book
and...just so you know. NU= Novel Updates

Nice.. that gives me some ideas
    I will tell it hahahaha
    hahahaha

    I'm now getting convinced

Yeah, you're definitely right. I think book is for those people who have high imagination. I've watched game of thrones and it's really good. The strength of the movies is the sfx i guess

yeah, I got your point. Maybe it just depends on the person
    Like what film?

Like they said, the book is more detailed. But the good thing about movies, they put more efforts in effects and presets giving the story an amazing production
