Mushoku Tensei Sucks?

I'm not saying it should. I clicked on the thread before and it was locked. Then it got unlocked so I wondered what happened. The question has been answered anyways

Yes. It does suck. It is over-rated, has a terrible main character, and is quite boring. I don't understand why people like it so much. Oh wait I do. But it would be seem mean if I explain why. =P.

 

Two things: he was 32 at the time and it was not hentai. In the LN version, it's uncensored overseas (most likely US) porno, while in the WN is a hidden camera video he took of his underaged niece (daughter of his little brother) on the bath, which explains the subsequent violence said little brother rained upon his computer.
He has to be shown as the lowest of the scum from early on, as it's a 23 volume long trip to becoming a passable human being.

1 irl have worst people than this but yeah, he's scumbag and so?
2 I don't remember this part but phrase sound like him but ignoring not really, he will be the first one go against the crew if he see the violence against women, specialy cute one.
3 I don't wanna know how many western book you have read but bribery is the most common and easy way to deal with people unless you have autority. Pick a fight mean deal with the guards. Deal the guards mean lose a lot of time. I hope you didn't expected, after policeman catches you because you get involve in something, be release very fast.
4 Age argument is useless. The ages don't make one wise. The experiences do. I don't know what kind experience a hikkimori can have but if you know pls illuminate me. So maybe I can understand why so many idiot irl.
5 I feel like you read what you want to read and miss a lot of main point. Rudeous really care about his family. This are the point I feel you missed "Rudy don't care about her mother" part:

- Paul misunderstanding Rudy's behavior. He didn't have a good vacation in demon continent, he just don't want his father worry about it.
- Paul didn't expected his son miss his message so he MISUNDERSTANDING his son didn't care about her mother.
- Rudy put more weight in Paul's word than someone pick a fight against his father little time ago. Through he had his own trouble, he think he cought maybe do a better job.
- Rudy forgive her father at end. He didn't sour about it and choice to reset they meet knowing his father have also his own trouble and let him have his happy reunion father-son to put him easy

I don't know where you understand he didn't care about his family but this all is clearly writed in the novel and not something I make-up.

Feel free to ask o point anything you don't like. If it isn't some minor details I can fully explain it.

 

personally i thought it was okey, it will never be a favorite mainly because the start of the novel is god-awful, later parts i found pretty decent mainly because he wasn't the one doing everything, while sure he was the most powerful in the bunch he kept using the full cast.

also when he died he was basically a pathetic social reject, man-child he had no maturity to draw from to make his mental age higher then his alternate world age knowledge yes maturity no.

do i think too many people love this novel to bits, yes i can't understand it but good for them it's nice to find stuff you like, i can give the novel a 6 and move on.

IMO overrated just like FFVII but that will OOT so to MT I find I have lost interest when he start to try change history from his future diary

Romance is good but romance with Harem is more Drama and comedy~! And they don't even know that?

 

BTW it's not as popular as you think. LN sales were around 10k per volume, i don't know if this is because jap people have already read WN or not. If you are talking about English community it was one of the first reincarnation story so no wonder there.

I just did not find it to be the 'literary genius' that everyone claimed it to be. Having it so talked about, and then when I read it, it seemed average, caused me to dislike it.

 

1) Sure he was sick in the head, but he opted to improve, and he does.
2) No where did it say the slaves were abused. They were literally just kidnapped.
3) So the MC isn't a typical xianxia MC that just kills everyone related to whoever insulted him even a tiny bit. Big deal.

Mushoku Tensei is a great novel, and the character development in it is very good. He goes from NEET > Wanting to do something with his life > Trying to survive > Loses sight of what he wants > Builds a family > Protects his family.

Sure you might not like the character, but that doesn't take away from the novel.
