Do you listen to a fitting theme music, while reading novels?

  1. Yes. I always play a fitting music for the book. Romance songs for romance book.

As you guys know, we won't be here if we dislike novels.
And what is better than reading a novel? Listening to a matching music, while reading the novel! :D
Or at least, that's what I think.

Like, listening to Chinese traditional music, while reading Xianxia.
or, Listening to a sci-fi themed music, while reading sci-fi stories.
    You guys know what I meant~ ;)

But, some people dislike having music as it is very distracting. Not to mention that not every moment on the novel could be fitted with a single or two music, but also constantly changing the music in midst of your reading is very disruptive to the reading experience.

But, In my opinion, there are some music that is very fitting for one theme of reading experience! one-of-a-kind-of-music-fits-all-type for the same theme!
And currently hunting for such kind of music on youtube! It's not easy to find though.:(

The only downside of such music is that you'll be tired of such theme fast, because you'll be hearing it over and over. So, you'll need a large amount of such music to keep yourself for being tired of it.

Since I'm a gamer as well, I have a lot of game ost collections, so here's a few example what I feel fitting to what I'm talking about:

    1. Digital/Futuristic sci-fi theme:

    2. Detective/Police/Investigation theme:

    3. Epic fights theme:

    4.Mysterious place/Unknown place theme:

    5. MC's Struggle/Shounen theme:

    6. The start of a journey/Adventure theme:

    7. Gunslinger/Agent theme:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4g3yAG0m_U

    8. Assassin theme/Medieval theme:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0HZaNzvFyk

    9. Xianxia theme:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EofWyMJUHk

    10. Pirates/Caribbean theme
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWmmpo5OsC8

So, what do you think? Do the musics above have the potential for what I'm talking about?
Btw, if you have any recommends, gimme the link ;)
Thx for reading my thread! (y)

If the part in the novel requires a lot of 'digestion', no music is best music.

Other than that, as you said.

Once I start reading I zone everything else out. I play it most of the time otherwise.

    That's blasphemy :blob_catflip:

Ohhh~ I also did that sometimes. Especially when there's a lot of material for thinking in Mystery or Detective novel. Novels that have a lot of depth in it.

Me too! I will only stop when the story's arc ended or the climax ended as well. But the music is important to build up the 'zone' easier!

Ugh ;-; I hate sad music, but I can't deny it's the perfect music for romance novels.

It would be perfect if there's no vocal metal sounds ;-; I dunno why, but I dislike having a vocal on the music for reading. It's easy to feel distracted for me.

Why didn't I think of that before  Holy shit, I'll try it next time on my reading session.
... I feel dumb sometimes. Thx for the suggestion, mate xd

If I'm reading a light novel and it already has an anime adaptation. I'm definitely playing its anime soundtrack in that particular scene or chapter. It makes the canon even MORE CANON!

I doubt music from the classic film "Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans" will enhance @Ai chan's experience reading a yuri/GL doujinshi.

I usually just play some song I like at the time on a loop. Just playing one song over and over makes it harder to get distracted since the song gets more and more predictable as you listen to it more and it just fades into the background.

Then when I listen to that song later, without the book, I feel big nostalgia for the time when I was reading the book.

For example, I just recently rediscovered a song I had listened to when reading part of Monarch of Evernight. When I listen to it now I get vivid flashbacks to the emotions I felt during that part of the book.

That's basically what I felt as well! I guess that's one reason why I always using the same music for the same book.

Probably.... well since listening to music ( mostly classical) has already became my habit whenever I’m studying. I don’t really know if it applies to reading a book since I’ve never tried.
