Google-sama will help you. I had the same problem with coming up with names so I looked for name generators. Though the names get repetitive and weird, it still gets the job done.

It's for "little" -- it's a common diminutive to use for young children. And I agree with @sinyueliang, since they're servants and furthermore young children, they will most likely refer to each other without their original last names or their full names. In the modern day, "Xiao" is a common pattern, as is "Ah", their birth order, or just duplicating the same character twice. For example: Xiao Ming - Little Ming Ah Ming Er Ming - Second Ming (usually refers to second sibling) Ming Ming They will probably have the same last name, so it often gets dropped and is rarely used.
