Hello, I just need some help with a line. I'm confused about this: 他应该选物化吧 specially the last two. This is the whole context: “下学期分班我会不会和他分到一个班啊。他应该选物化吧,我也肯定选物化。往年一部的物化班大概有九个,九分之一的概率……啊啊啊啊!” Thanks in advance (≧▽≦)
If i'm not wrong then this should be: He is probably going to choose Materialization (or Item Materialization). Not sure tho.
Yeah, I'm wondering what is Materialization. I feel like she's talking about if Science department or whatsoever. ⁽⁽(ཀ д ཀ)⁾⁾
If this is in the context of school life then its really confusing. Maybe some sort of new science subject??? Since chemistry is 化学 and biology is 生物学 maybe its like a combination of the two?
I feel like they were talking about science here? Like Liberal Arts Department and Science Department
According to the internet, 物化 is either an abbreviation for "physics and chemistry" or "physical chemistry." If the characters aren't at some high school for super-geniuses, it's probably the former.
物化 here means physics and chemistry. In China, at the beginning of the second year of senior high school (around age 16-18), students would be devided into art classes or science classes as they prefer. Art classes include Political, History and Geography , while science classes include Physics, Chemistry and Biology. And these three subjects will be tested along with chinese, math and english in the College Entrance Examination (gaokao 高考)。 These year, in some province in China , education reform has started. Students would only choose 2 subject among all the 6 subjects whatever it's in Art or Science. PS: As for the abbreviation of the subjects, they are: 政 史 地 物 化 生 ( Political, history ,geography , physics, chemistry , biology) and the main three subjects are 语 数 英(Chinese, math, English)
I don't know about China, but the high school I went to had science courses separated out into things like chemistry and physics. You could fulfill your science credits by taking a certain number of courses in each category, and chemistry and physics credits were interchangeable. Also, i's not uncommon for physics and chemistry to be grouped together in education while things like biology and astronomy are their own categories. Since the author of the story didn't just say "science", maybe it's a similar situation.
