okay guys, I seriously need your opinion. I wanna pursuit my Master Degree but most of my siblings tell me to keep working for at least 1 year before continuing studies.

My dad just tell me to continue the studies but at the same time, I understand why my sibling said so, since work experience is good for my resume.

So, your opinion? further my Master straight aways or work for 1 year?

I wanna pursuit Master in International Relations and Diplomacy, I got 3.68 cgpa in my Degree in Admin Science and eligible for scholarship. Currently I am working as E-commerce admin for 6 months.

I dont want to continue being an admin person since my goals is to become a lecturer.

I would need to know what your current degree is for and what your masters would be for.

Depends upon the degree and your potential employer, you might get your employer to pay for your masters degree. And in my opinion, if you can get someone else to pay, then it's better for you.

First find out exactly how much studies you would need. Would it be full-time for one or more years, or have you already gotten enough courses done so that it wouldn't actually be that much extra other than the final project ?

If you've enough done, you could theoretically work parttime while doing it.

I absolutely regret my degree and would go back in time and punch myself if I had the chance. I can't imagine why you would want to spend *more* time studying

Depends on the degree, if it's an area where you can instantly find tons of job openings, study.

If not, and your CV has larger "blank" area than 3 years, get a job, preferably on similar area(anything goes but similar area is better for jobs later) for a year before continuing.

    Work.

Most of my friends who did masters without working in between went unemployed after the fact.
Companies will label you over qualified, meaning all brains no experience....

Even when my friend downgraded his salaries, companies are still reluctant coz they could be labeled under paying their staff....

And I am speaking from an employer perspective too, I wouldn't hire anyone without a work experience with masters degree. Usually you need to put masters on managerial positions, and you can not put a person who never kept a job and be involved in work related pressures in a managing position.

+1 on Justmehere. Unless you're looking to work in the academia as a teacher or researcher it would probably be better to get a job first and continue your masters as you work.

what do you mean Continue with Master? You already started with the Master? I waisted 7 years on my Study, just to start my own business afterward, not even using the degree or the knowledge.

If you've worked in your field already, know you enjoy it, and the higher level degree will get you more pay in position with lots of job openings, follow through on the master's.

If you have not experienced what your degree leads to as a day to day job, go experience work in your field before you commit any more time or money to it's study.

Do both part time? I don't have much knowledge in the private sector, more in the government. For goverment servant, i guess it better to have a higher qualification get promoted faster.

Some fields need masters to do work like accounting, teaching elementary middle or high school, social work and sometimes finance. So it depends on your field. Most people forget that beyond masters is a PhD which is what you need for academic or research jobs.

    Work experience is highly important.

If you're in the US, here's some data: https://www.bls.gov/ooh/

If you're in engineering, Matt Tran's engineering truth channel on YouTube may be helpful. I also highly recommend Aaron Clarey's channel and services.

Yeah I would go for your masters first and try interning at at a school, being a teacher's assistant (with recitation) to get experience teaching.

Try to keep working if possible but if you can’t handle the workload then take that scholarship and pursue a career you want.
