You can think of it as Feinan natives have an incredibly nerfed system compared to Marvin. Hence, they also have the "inspect" skill, but this skill is also nerfed. That's why in a chapter when Hathaway "inspected" Marvin, she could point ou his Ranger lvl but said that she cannot see his second occupation : Night Walker. She also said something like there are 2 reasons when one cannot see an occuption : 1- it's too stronk (not sure about the 1st) 2-it's too rare.

So this novel doesn't even start to attempt to hide its Dungeons and Dragons. He is in the UnderDark fighting Drows, Kuo-Toas, and Deurgars. I am starting to think that this is just a novel rendition of a DnD campaign the author did once.
