Every time I read a novel from japan I get somewhat infuriated by dilly-dallying protagonists so I'm looking for novels like Arifureta Shokugyou de Sekai Saikyou. Even though the MC isnt some megaplayboy who has all the answers he isn't a donkan who couldn't see things as obvious as the nose on his face. So yeah I need assistance

Annoying and @Japanese MC is a one entity, you take annoying out of Japanese MC and it will not be a japanese mc anymore. Even if say that you took out harem, ecchi, hentai, pacifist, bull-headed and etc. It will be still japanese mc, and they are still muddle-headed as fuck

You should really try Dungeon Defense, mc not dense, well maybe a little romantically dense, but he has legitimate defense of his father being one of those harem types and his mother a yandere.
Hmm... how about Rokujouma no Shinryakusha? The cover might make it just like other generic typical Harem novel but don't led it misled you. The first through the sixth volume is only the introduction of the characters so The MC might looks like your typical dense JP MC at first, but the MC character development is good. Volume 10 onwards is where stuff started to get interesting. There was an Anime for this but the LN version is so much better.
Japanese mc's are either extremely annoying or they are extremely dense. If they don't come under one of those two, the MC isn't Japanese no more.
In that case, you haven't read enough JP novels, seeing that harem genre novels(where you usually find the dense/annoying MC's) is not the majority of the JP novels posted on NU.
