It's a question actually, something i wanted ask for quite a while. Would you read a novel with no overarching plot? No revenge, no saving, no world crisis. Just simple everyday life of a person who lives just for the next morning? A slice of life, that would be like a fictional vlog.... Just that it would strech for hundreds of chapters. Oh... xianxia/xuanhuan not mages and knights, jp has many slice of life in fiction. Please do leave your vote... Even if u don't feel like commenting.
Depends on what it has to offer. If it's an endless fluff story, or an epidosic cooking story, count me in. It warms my heart to read a chapter after a long day. But I wouldn't binge-read it. Otherwise, I'm always up for gag stories that go nowhere and have their characters stay forever the same age in the same circumstances, only doing funny stuff with some philosophical insights once in a while!
I dont like vlogs. Specially those with no talent ones. I dont find giggling and everyday life small talk fun. Ive heard it all whenever im in the bus or train. No need to hear it aimed at me rather than over hearing them. Though food vlogs, cooking vlogs and watch-a-long vlogs are kinda fun, if and only if the voice is good.
oh this cat can see the appeal of SoL~ when you really tired of work once awhile you wanna read or see people relaxing..... weird this cat know but sometimes imagine living like that it feel not so bad.... of course that kinda far fetched stuff cuz everyone have their own problem~ you know like harvest moon is fun despite the chicken need to hug, the sheep and cow sometimes need to outside, forgetting to see weather cast can be disaster similar to forget timetable of seed, or some love target kinda just well hard to please... darn it! but it fun~
The real question is, would I finish a novel without an overarching plot? It's a lot more likely that I wouldn't finish these kind of novels compared to novels with an overarching plot.
Usually I don't like the everyday genre. But I liked the anime "I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying" because it has interesting main and secondary characters.
