Recommendations Non-stupid, capable MC harem

    I am so sick and tired of those generic harem novels with unnecessary amounts of fan service and stupid male leads, who are just lucky to be picked! Trying to find a harem-tagged novel with a smart and cool male character seems to be like finding a needle in a haystack, therefore I was hoping you might have some good recommendations for me.

    What I recently liked and think would fit in what I imagine is probably 108 Maidens of Destiny. The MC is quite smart, very reliable. The girls are not falling head over heels for him just because of some stupid plot devices. For example, the second "maiden" chooses him because he proved himself to be good at solving mystery quests. Plus, there is also no unnecessary fanservice (I am not against fanservice, I can tolerate it for a good story, but there are just some that seem to be all about fanservice and nothing else -.-)

    dragon's soul(non-asian author)(still a webnovel at novelsnao old chapters, divine dao novel new chapters) harem 1 out of 4 girls is stupid rest really smart and capable and have an active role within the story once they join up takes a while for the harem to gather though
    Ps. only the stupid one joins for no apparent reason she's still not understood rest joined for a good reason

    Is there even a harem is Summoned Slaughterer? I'd say it's closer to one-sided worship.

    Great story, great plot, great characters, but at the rate it's being translated you'll never get to the relationship building/harem/romance part within a decade.

    I'd suggest you try Great Demon King, good translation speed and quality. Only 1k chapters so already 30% translated.
    There is a harem, the harem is formed based on logic, so far all the girls contribute/ do something to progress the storyline, they're not there just to provide fan service. He also has to accomplish certain tasks/ criteria to start/build the relationship, which makes sense because that way there's a reason and a foundation to build their future relationship upon.
