How many times if you do I'd write notes along with the lecture and then, later on, condense them into clearer, better-formatted notes. I don't find the act of rewriting the notes itself helpful to my understanding of the topic, so I just do it the once. You don't need to turn on your computer or even be near a computer to study, either. For the people that take notes on paper, what type of paper ? lines rectangles small squares big squares white printing paper I use normal lined paper. Maths notes don't actually really need exact, to-scale diagrams that squares help with, and I don't like the vertical lines going through my writing.
