    Any novel that involve the death of a lovable character that you've grown attach to.

    For example
    Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari - When Atlas died

    I know there's a few other, but I just can't seem to recall them. Maybe they were so sad that I just don't want to recall them T-T

    Natsume Yuujinchou (manga & anime, both are really good) isn't the type to make you cry. It's more of a thoughtful, melancholy feel. Yanno, like a quiet rain on a spring day. Very nice in its own way.

    If you want something sad that'll make you really cry, I believe someone already suggested Mulberry Song. The Last Unicorn (book) is terribly sad and made me read through tears. The ending part with Sai in Hikaru No Go (manga)... also made me cry; the rest of the manga is pretty upbeat and competitive though, because it involves professional Go players getting their game on.

    1 Litre no Namida"1 Litre of Tears" is very sad.

    Hikaru ga Chikkyu ni Itakoro.... One of the most saddest Ln that i've ever read. i really, really almost cried loudly when i read this LN. If you like Sad Dramatic LN, this is for you.
    Tenkyo no Alderamin in Vol.7.
    Main Heroine died for MC and MC is 'broken'. The other heroine become a tyrant to protect MC.
    And you'll see why this world's countries strives to make a peace for this world. Because war will just give another tragedy and despair.
