Question NSFW Content

I've asked aaround on different threads and apps but nothing so far.

I'm wanting to know if these have NSFW content. I've been coming across novels with yaoi tags lately that are actually Shounen ai. I've tried reading reviews to find the answer but nothing is mentioned about the NSFW for these ones.

2. The Long Chase for the President’s Spouse

3. Stop Bothering Me, Emperor
-one person did say this one didn't have NSFW but said they might be wrong because they read the mtl and it might have been vague.

Look at summary it's said that chinese webnovels 18+ scenes are forbidden.

 

I don’t know in these specific cases, but judging by the titles, I’d say, probably doesn’t have NSFW? Generally, Chinese novels rarely have NSFW in them, probably due to the censorship problems. My advice, if you’re hankering for some NSFW BL, is to read The Reader and the Protagonist are in Love, Japanese novels/manga/doujinshi, or fanfiction.

Or do a search with “yaoi” and “smut” tags together.

 

I know a lot of people put the yoai tag just because they are not sure how the novel will develops, or someone thought that parts of the novel were too "mature". I read a story that I considered shounen ai but the translator considered it yaoi. The clothes never came off, no touching through the clothes either. They did however make out with tongue. So the chapter were censored and tagged nsfw, cause anything beyond hand holding is nsfw. Though in reality I guess people shouldn't make out at work but still... Not worth the tag to me.

That's good to know. I have done a search for those tags a found some good ones. I have read that novel and it was so good.

Mhmm. I knew they had strict a laws. How does that explain the scenes in the reader and protagonist? Most were detailed but 2 were censored.
Then, the other novels I've read with smut are not Chinese?

I'm quite certain it is illegal for nsfw boys love in china. I'm not going to claim none exists, but not many people are willing to challenge the law and wind up in an organ farm prison.

 

I think newer or popular titles are less likely to have nsfw scenes. A lot of works that I am reading either have those chapters locked or are edited to remove those parts. One after even wrote how many characters were removed due to censorship.

 

As far as i've seen, it's a bit more vague than just saying ''sex is banned''. Descriptive, full on erotica/smut is a no go i. e. what you read when you wanna you know what, but being vague or not too descriptive about it seems fine. Take something like The Legendary Master's Wife, that ones actually got a fair bit of ''spicy'' scenes (as far as i recall, been some time), but yet they're often limited to slightly dirty words or vague descriptions, just enough to form a picture (and MC's complaints about ML being too ''big'' ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ).

I'd imagine the medium where you distribute the novel might also be a factor, but i'd obviously not know, since i'm neither chinese nor an author.

Chapters with smut get removed, but they are still online in one place or another and translators translate them. If a webnovel has a Taiwanese print edition, it should contain all removed sex scenes.
