What is this?

This forum game is a semi-realistic gardening simulator loosely based on Stardew Valley mechanics. Plants grow in real-time, so it is a slow paced game that requires patience. Remember to water your plants or else they will die at the end of the month.

This is a community garden, meaning we all share the same space, although everyone has their private inventory. You can join (or drop out) at any point and help take care of plants that anyone else has planted in the garden, but please do not be a nuisance.​

How to play?

The first time you join this game, you start with 100G and an empty inventory.

The community garden occurs in real time, and our official timezone is London time (UTC+0). We have three seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall), with each season lasting exactly one month IRL.

• The current season (March 2019) is Spring.
• The next season (April 2019) is Summer.

Crops are grown in a shared public garden where each slot is called a Plot. Anybody can perform actions on any Plot even if somebody else planted it. A few important game rules:

• Crops grow +1 point on days that they are watered.
• All crops growing in the garden die on the last day of every month when the season changes.
• If an "Empty Plot" or "Tilled Plot" is left untouched for 3 days, it will turn into a "Grass Plot".

Every day, you have 3 action points (AP) you can spend on the garden.

There are several actions you could choose (it's okay to select one option multiple times):

1) Action: Visit Shop.
Use this action whenever you would to buy seeds or sell crops. Costs 1 AP.

2) Tool: Use Hoe.
Use this action on an "Empty Plot" or "Grass Plot" to turn it into a "Tilled Plot". Costs 3 AP.

3) Action: Plant Seeds.
Use this action to plant 1 seed on a "Tilled Plot" to turn it into a "(Crop) Plot". Costs 2 AP.
Important: A "Tilled Plot" or "Empty Plot" that has not been touched in 3 days will grow weeds and revert to a "Grass Plot".

4) Tool: Use Watering Can.
Use this action on a "(Crop) Plot" to increase its growth by 1 point. Costs 1 AP.
Each plant can only be watered a maximum of once every day.

5) Tool: Use Scythe.
Use this action on a fully grown "(Crop) Plot" to turn it into an "Empty Plot". Costs 2 AP.
The harvested crop goes to your inventory.

6) Tool: Use Axe.
Use this action on a "Tree Plot" to cut down a tree. Once 5 AP is spent, it is converted into an "Empty Plot".
You gain +10 Wood in your inventory.

7) Tool: Use Pickaxe.
Use this action on a "Rock Plot" to break a rock. Once 5 AP is spent, it is converted into an "Empty Plot".
You gain +2 Stone in your inventory.

8) Action: Summon Nature Spirit.
Use this action on a "Water Plot" or "Grass Plot" to destroy it.
Once 5 AP is spent, the plot is returned to nature and deleted from the Garden.

9) Action: Expand Garden.
Use this action on a "Mysterious Plot" to help expand the garden. Once 10 AP is spent on one "Mysterious Plot", a new random farmable Plot is created. Please use @justabot to roll a ten-sided dice (!roll 1,10,1) to determine what kind of random Plot it will be. Roll key:

1. Grass Plot
2. Tree Plot
3. Empty Plot
4. Rock Plot
5. Grass Plot
6. Tree Plot
7. Empty Plot
8. Rock Plot
9. Grass Plot
10. Water Plot

Final tutorial post! Remember that crops can only be watered once per day! Don't water them again if someone already did!

I didn't finish clearing the Mysterious Plot, so instead I put 2/10 AP into it.

To make it so that nobody accidentally waters the same plant twice.

And also because Tilled Plots grow Grass after 3 days and need to be Tilled again.

Soooo the overall idea this time is to mimic Stardew Valley, but also to do it in a way where it isn't too complicated.

Anyhow next mechanic I'd like to add is foraging:

10) Action: Forage.
Use this action at any time to gather wild resources. Use @justabot to roll a 8-sided dice. If you roll an eight, you found something! Check out the seasonal foraging table. Costs 1 AP.

If you successfully foraged an item (rolled an eight) during the spring, roll a 7-sided dice to determine your prize:

1. Wild Horseradish - Sell Crop x1 (50G)
2. Daffodil - Sell Crop x1 (30G)
3. Leek - Sell Crop x1 (60G)
   
4. Dandelion - Sell Crop x1 (40G)
5. Spring Onion - Sell Crop x1 (8G)
6. Morel - Sell Crop x1 (150G)
7. Common Mushroom - Sell Crop x1 (40G)

More Thoughts:

A) Would like to add festivals and special events are certain days.

For instance for spring:

• Spring 13: Egg Festival - Only time to buy strawberry seeds
• Spring 24: Flower Dance - Only time to buy rhubarb seeds

B) Would like to add mining (only makes sense if tools can be upgraded)

C) Would like to add carpenter's shop (can build barns, upgrade house)

D) Would like to add fishing (only makes sense for cooking)

E) Would like to add cooking

F) Would like to add animals

G) Fertilizer system
Fertilizer will increase the amount crops sell for (Silver, Gold Tier) when added to soil
